ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. -
David Nickens, Mopar Pro Stock Dodge Dakota (7.760/174.32) lost on a
red-light start to John Lingenfelter (7.967/144.00) "We worked so hard since
Atlanta to get this truck down the track it's a shame the way the weekend
finished for us. We had the fastest truck out here and for me to red light
in the semis is inexcusable. I just went brain dead and let go of the
clutch. I knew that I had thrown it away the instant it happened. It's just
a shame because of all the Mopar support that's here and I feel like we let
them down."
Bill Henderson, Rocky Mountain Express Pro Stock Dodge Dakota
(7.890/171.40) lost to David Nickens (7.726/173.94) "Were improving every
time we roll the truck onto the track and that's the most important thing.
On my last run I rolled through the lights and had a poor 60-foot time
(1.17). We improved two miles and hour on the back half which is where we've
really been struggling. It kind of a double-edged sword for us right now ...
we have the fastest truck through the first eighth of a mile but we also have
the worst truck on the back half. Under 140 miles an hour the truck runs
great, but we're struggling with our scoop. We think we're pushing too much
air through the scoop, which is causing the problem. We're going to (Jerry)
Bickel's shop right after his race to try some different ideas in hopes of
making some changes before Chicago."
Todd Patterson, Mopar Pro Stock Dodge Dakota, (8.419/132.31) lost to
Randy Daniels (7.729/175.07) "It's a disappointing way to finish up the Mopar
Parts Nationals. I knew I had problems when I was In the water ... the truck
didn't sound right, but you go with your instincts and make the run. When I
let off the clutch the engine choked itself and almost shut right off. Its'
disappointing because the Mopar Pro Stock Dodge Dakota improved virtually on
every run this weekend. We're hoping to get some testing in to find out what
the problem is before we head to Chicago in two weeks.
