ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - The NHRA Fram Nationals in Atlanta proved to be a disappointing event for the Benza-Krebs One on One Sports Radio Pro Stock Firebird. Fully expecting to make the Sunday program, qualifying just wasn't in the cards. "No matter what we changed, and we changed everything, it just wasn't meant to be. We found a serious suspension binding problem and that kept us from qualifying" says Benza. The Pennzoil Nationals at the Virginia Motorsports Park was the performance display the Benza-Krebs Pontiac Firebird had hoped for at the previous race. Qualifying ninth with a 6.954 at 197.49 miles per hour, the team feels that they have made their presence known, they are going to be a factor on the NHRA Pro Stock circuit. Reports Benza, "We didn't do at Atlanta what we wanted, we didn't qualify, but we didn't walk away empty handed either. We did gather some valuable information that took us into the Pennzoil Nationals feeling very good about our chances to race on Sunday and we did!" "The temporary repair we made going into the Pennzoil Nationals worked but was still binding. We qualified ninth and won our first round of NHRA Pro Stock. In round two we found out that the repair just wasn't enough and caused us to slow to a 7.07 and a loss to Tom Martino, I think we could have gone all the way to the finals the way the car worked first round" says Benza. "We skipped Dallas to repair the suspension the right way this time, we want to be ready and do well for our sponsor and the fans. With crew chiefs Terry Adams and Dave Krebs making the calls and the Barry Grant engine program we have, we have a great chance of winning. If all things go the way we plan, and with a little luck, and the tremendous support we get from our One on One Sports Radio sponsor, we can put this Pontiac Firebird in the winners circle. Watch for us on Sunday!" reports Benza The NHRA Mopar Nationals at Raceway Park, Englishtown, New Jersey will be a homecoming for the Benza-Krebs One on One Sports Radio Firebird. Historically Benza has done well at tracks who's name included "Raceway Park", his first national event win coming at the Englishtown Raceway Park facility.
