FAIRFIELD, Ohio - The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) has announced the acquisition of IHRA Australia, bringing the sanctioning body's Australian and New Zealand operations fully under the ownership of Darryl Cuttell in Fairfield, Ohio.

This landmark move unites the IHRA under one vision, strengthening ties between the U.S. and Asia-Pacific regions at a time of unprecedented momentum for the sanctioning body. In 2025, IHRA is currently hosting a successful Outlaw Nitro Series season in the United States, marked by marquee Pro and Pro-Am competitions and a renewed energy that has signaled a true return to glory.

IHRA confirmed that local operations in Australia and New Zealand will continue as normal, with licensing, membership, and regulatory functions maintained within each country while also ensuring competitors are globally recognized IHRA members. The Asia-Pacific headquarters will remain based in Australia, working in close partnership with IHRA's U.S. leadership team.

Maurice Allen will continue in his role as Managing Director of IHRA Australia, ensuring continuity and stability throughout the transition.

"This is a game-changer," said Allen. "With Darryl Cuttell's track record, including the purchase of seven iconic motorsport facilities in the USA and his dynamic vision for the sport, there's no doubt this will take drag racing in our region to the next level. I'm confident the transition will be seamless, and the future is bright for all levels of the sport, from grassroots to professional."

Cuttell emphasized the acquisition as part of his broader global strategy for the sport.

"Bringing Australia and New Zealand fully into the IHRA family was an obvious move," said Cuttell. "Our commitment is backed by substantial investment to support clubs, teams, venues, and competitors throughout the region. I look forward to visiting soon and sharing our detailed vision for the future of drag racing in the Asia-Pacific."

The acquisition underscores IHRA's commitment to growth, uniting racers and fans from both hemispheres under a single vision. With the "new era" of the Outlaw Nitro Series season serving as a springboard, IHRA now looks to deliver that same passion, professionalism, and excitement to the international stage.
