Force has 46 wins and 14 losses against Pedregon over the course of their careers. In final round competition, Force has the advantage with 11 wins and seven losses. Pedregon has not won a final round since he clinched the 2003 Funny Car championship with a win in Las Vegas that year. He has never won as a team owner.

This was a real pedal-fest and when it was done, Pedregon had the win. Force had the quicker light and started to smoke the tires as soon as he launched. Pedregon got out to about 100 feet when he started to smoke the tires. Both drivers got off the throttle and then got back on it. They both smoked the tires again, with their cars hopping around on the track. Force and Pedregon each pedaled their cars four more times, with both cars going almost sideways on the track and Pedregon getting close to the wall. Finally, Pedregon got his car across the finish line for the win.
