Millican is 1 - 0 against Carrillo in prior events.

This is the 10th time this year that Clay Millican has been No 1. He joins Tony Schumacher, Blaine Johnson and Gary Beck as the only Top Fuel drivers in history to have 10 or more No. 1 spots in a single year. In 17 years here the No. 1 qualifier in Top Fuel has never lost in the first round. This is the fourth pro start for Greg Carrillo.

Carrillo with the starting line advantage, but Millican had the difference made up by the time they go by the Christmas tree and never trails from there on for the win. Millican started drifting out of the groove and over by the centerline on the top end, but reeled it in for the win. Millican will have his lane choice over Schumacher in the next round.

Carrillo with his quickest pass of the weekend in the losing effort.
