Johnson is 1 - 0 against Surber in prior events. Since the bikes became an official pro class in 1987 Steve Johnson is the only rider to appear at all 30 of the NHRA "Finals" events. His #8 qualifying position is his best at this race since 2004 and marks the first time this year he has started from the top half of the field at consecutive races.
