4:41 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 22 percent, barometer 28.87 inches, adjusted altitude 3,190 feet, track temperature 97 degrees. This is the second time in NHRA history that the two top qualifiers have met in the final round [In 2004, Schumacher defeated Kalitta]. Torrence has been twenty-seven final rounds and has a 37% win history. He is five wins and six losses in the final round. Kalitta has been in almost 150 final rounds and has a 54+% win advantage. This is his 418th event as a NHRA Pro. He has won three of the four final round races with Torrence, with a 10-3 overall history with Torrence. He has a 38/43 final round win/loss ratio and won here in 2009. We have already had two of the Pro finals won with a hole shot, but not this time! Two good light and Kalitta gets a small advantage at the green. The MAC Tools dragster makes another clean mid-three seventy pass with a big speed, but it's just not quite good enough. Torrence closes quickly and is just a tad behind going down the with Kalitta just pulling a further ahead until the 330 lights. Torrence slowly starts to pull back up and is just -0.001 behind right at the 660 lights. He finally just gets the nose of the Capco Contractors dragster out in front for the close two foot win. Steve Torrence's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.003), 330 ft(-0.007), 660ft(-0.001). MOV: 0.0044 seconds (approximately 2 feet). Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.855 sec., 330ft-2.139, 660ft-3.014/288.70 mph. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.132, 660ft-3.001/291.19 mph.
