Dixon is 44 - 21 against McClenathan in prior events and Dixon is 7 - 2 against McClenathan in prior final rounds. Dixon with a starting line advantage and then is up in smoke right at the hit, and he lifts. McClenathan starts to smoke the tires around 200 feet and that is when Dixon gets back on the throttle. He gets it to hook up and takes the win for his 12th win in 12 final round this season. McClenathan was on and off the throttle at least three time and couldn't get the car to hook back up. Dixon used up an engine right in the lights, but collects his 60th National event win.
