Bazemore has made it to seven finals this year, the last at Joliet, Ill., which he won. He and Skuza have met twice this year, Bazemore winning both of those. Skuza's team really had to thrash between rounds, with the help of crew members from other teams, to get a car ready for this race. He was out of bodies and had to borrow Hartman's. The crews that helped between round were standing behind Skuza at the starting line for the race. Skuza gave it a good try, getting the hole-shot and staying ahead past the sixty-foot mark. Bazemore then pulled even and started extending his lead. Skuza got to the 1000-foot mark and the car lost power, not sure why, and Bazemore pulled away for the win, his third this year. He now holds the points lead by seven points, 1376 to Tony Pedregon's 1369.
