INDIANAPOLIS -- Vintage Design, a residential and commercial floor covering contractor based in Yorba Linda, Calif., has agreed to an associate sponsorship with Don Schumacher Racing's Funny Car operations - the Matco Tools Funny Car, driven by Whit Bazemore and the Oakley Funny Car, driven by Scotty Cannon.
Vintage Design, which services the Southern California area with showroom locations in San Diego, Irvine and Yorba Linda, has a history of motorsports sponsorship, dating back to 1989 when the company was an associate sponsor on Gary Ormsby's Top Fuel dragster. Vintage Design was also a sponsor with Larry Minor Motorsports NHRA teams in 1992. For the past five years, Vintage Design had sponsorship involvements in both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the Winston West Series.
"Our roots are with the NHRA and we're happy to be back," said Tim Buckley, president of Vintage Design. "Don Schumacher presented us with a great opportunity and we're excited about returning to drag racing and being affiliated with a first-class racing operation. We can't wait to showcase our company on two highly-competitive racecars."
Don Schumacher, owner of Don Schumacher Racing, said, "We welcome Tim Buckley and
his company to our racing team. As with all of our sponsors, Vintage Design is a
quality company, and with its solid motorsports background, it will be a positive
addition to our entire operation."
