HIGH POINT, N.C. -
Bowen, the well-known crew chief for 2012 ADRL Pro Nitrous champion Bob Rahaim, lost his life in a single-vehicle accident near his Roxboro, NC home on October 4. He left behind a wife and two young children.
"Kevin was universally liked and respected throughout the drag racing community, and EOPM is happy to have this opportunity to honor Kevin," said EOPM director Rick Moore. "He was taken from us much too soon, and we hope to honor him and help his family with this event."
The entry fee will be $100 per car and includes a tech card. 100% of all entry fees as well as donations from race teams and sponsors will go directly to the Kevin Bowen Memorial Fund.
"We couldn't ask for a more perfect place to hold this inaugural event than Virginia Motorsports Park," Moore said. "When zMAX Dragway cancelled both events they had scheduled with EOPM, we reached out to our friends Allen Carpenter and Bryan Pierce at VMP and they welcomed the event without hesitation. EOPM is proud to be associated with such a great facility and honorable people such as Allen and Bryan. We're also very fortunate to have the support of Steve Vick and Carolina Precision Machining as the presenting sponsor for the race.
"We plan to make the inaugural Kevin Bowen Memorial Shootout one to remember and look forward to it becoming an annual event," said Moore.
