MONTGOMERY, Ala. --
While the wet stuff was falling, a Practice Tree Race began for $1,000 to win and $400 runner-up. In all, 172 people entered and in the end, Dana "Shut-Up" Kloet walked away with the trophy.
As track drying took place, several scenarios were discussed by officials but in the end, it was decided to run the last of the Triple 20s on Saturday night, moving the Million event to Sunday where sunshine is predicted to give the race the prestige it deserves. The executive decision for Saturday was to begin eliminations for the Triple 20 at 5:00, run as many elimination rounds as possible until midnight and then complete that race after the Million Dollar event on Sunday.
Sunday will dawn with a single time trial for the Million contestants followed by completion of the 18th annual C.A.R.S. Protection Plus Million Dollar Race which will add some lucky person's name to the long and illustrious list of winners who have won the largest single race payout in the history of drag racing.
