MAGNOLIA, Ohio -- The final qualifying event for the 2013 Buckeye Stock/SuperStock Drag Racing Series was held Sunday Sept 8th at Magnolia Drag Strip in Magnolia,Ohio.
There were twenty six cars that entered and one broke leaving twenty five for the first round.
The S/SS cars were out on the track first running for the Mid Ohio Paving dial in race. Several racers were close but the winner was none other than Jim Nichols driving his B/SA '64 Belvedere. Jim sponsors the dial in race so we gave him his money back and then paid him $100 for the win. Didn't seem right to just give him his money back so we ponied up and paid him the money.
The first round best winning package sponsored by Parsons & Myers Racing Engines was won by "Doc" Sloan driving Kirbys '63 Plymouth Nostalgia Super Stocker.
Semi Final round consisted of Eugene Chipps running his GT/DA AMX vs. Bob Scheiff in his trusty '80 Aspen Stocker with Chipps coming out on top of that duel. The other pairing was P.J. Fouts with the L/SA Olds against Mike Walters GT/LA Firebird. The Oldsmobile was the close winner setting up the final of Chipps and Fouts.
Both drivers had done a great job all day. After the staging process was complete the L/SA of Fouts left first with the AMX chasing and when it was done the Olds driven by P.J.Fouts was the victor.
Thanks to the track and management at Magnolia who did a superb job with the track prep and with the timeleness of the program. Get well wishes go to Jim Kinney who is the track manager there and is dealing with medical issues.
Next event is at National Trail Raceway on Saturday Oct.5th for the last S/SS race of the season as well as the Championship
Runoff to crown the 2013 Buckeye S/SS Champion.
