Left Lane: Scott Palmer No Time, Now #1
Weather conditions: air temperature 81 degrees, relative humidity 59 percent, barometer 29.13 inches, adjusted altitude 3,177 feet, track temperature 106 degrees.
Palmer's car sounded
funny when it was firing up and never did sound right as he was doing the burnout and he shorten
the burnout and shut it off.
Left Lane: Troy Buff No Time, Now #3
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 7.143/94.08, Now #1
Buff never got the Bill Miller machine to fire and is pushed off to the side. Todd is back in the car for Bernstein as he needed a couple more weeks of rest. Todd started to lose traction and clicked it off.
Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 5.035/144.41, Now #2
Right Lane: Pat Dakin Runs 4.058/246.93, Now #1
Dixon started to lose traction early and clicked it off. Dakin started to drop cylinders and then pushed out a head gasket with a quick flash of flames.
Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.903/319.37, Now #1
Right Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 4.009/269.08, Now #2
McMillen was straight down the groove with a good clean pass. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.214, 660ft-3.141/276.69 mph. Pruett's car started to drop cylinders and then right in the lights the engine let go with a huge fireball. The left rear tire then went down and she did a great job getting the car to stop. The word from the top end is there is oil on the track. This will cost her five points.
Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 4.274/197.05, Now #5
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.813/324.67, Now #1
Force started to haze the tires around half track and clicked it off. Grubnic launched hard and keep it hooked up to make a real nice pass. David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.167, 660ft-3.067/283.07 mph.
Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.870/323.74, Now #2
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 4.055/239.27, Now #5
Vandergriff with a good pass early and then started to haze the tires and chew up the blower belt and he coasted across the finish line. Torrence with a real nice pass keep it hitting on all eight all the way down the track. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.850 sec., 330ft-2.186, 660ft-3.113/276.29 mph.
Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.874/299.53, Now #3
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.266/199.20, Now #8
Millican much like his teammate he started to haze the tires and he clicked it off. Lucas was on a good pass and then right in the lights there was a lot of engine smoke and his top end speed was down. He still goes to the number three spot. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.146, 660ft-3.073/271.41 mph.
Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.948/280.02, Now #6
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.805/323.35, Now #1
Kalitta launched hard and keep the big Goodyears hooked up to go to the number one spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.839 sec., 330ft-2.157, 660ft-3.058/283.55 mph. alBalooshi started to haze the tires on the top end and is still in the top half of the field. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.862 sec., 330ft-2.207, 660ft-3.146/274.05 mph.
Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.866/315.42, Now #3
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 4.400/182.08, Now #13
Massey started to haze the tires before half track and clicked it off. Brown with a real nice pass to go up to the number three spot right behind the Team Kalitta cars. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.178, 660ft-3.098/276.80 mph.
Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.913/310.77, Now #7
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 4.450/177.60, Now #15
Schumacher started to lose traction early and clicked it off. Langdon started dropping cylinders and he stayed with it to go to the number seven spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.187, 660ft-3.130/270.43 mph.
