Well the season has started and we were not sure how many would show up to race with the Indy thing and all. I'll tell ya there were twenty one who came to race.
Several long time racers and a couple newbies thrown in. Weather was great as was the racing.
With most racers this being the first trip to the track, It was Skyler Nichols, driving the Mid-Ohio Paving '70 Duster E/SA that won the dial in money. Skyler dialed 7.40 and ran 7.408 to pocket the $100.Coincidentally,the Dial in Race is sponsored by Mid-Ohio Paving's Jim Nichols (thanks dad!!!).
Into eliminations, Skyler kept his luck in play as he pulled the #1 chip and gave him the 1st round bye. Bob Fowkes driving a J/SA Camaro had the Best First Round Winning Package as he had a .504 light and ran 7.3451 on his 7.32 dial in.$100 awarded by Parsons & Myers Racing Engines found its way into Bob's pocket.
In the semi's there were three. Ryan Rudrick, last year's runner up headed to the finals again with a bye into the finals and on the other side was last year's Buckeye S/SS Champion, Tom Losket against P.J.Fouts in his L/SA Olds. Fouts was away first with a great .513 light ant Tom left with an even better .505 and a one over 6.984 on a 6.97 dial for the win. Rudricks light in the semi's was a .522 setting up a great final.
Losket's C/SA Roadrunner was dialed another 6.97 and Rudricks O/SA Plymouth Duster was dialed 8.28.The pressure was on and when the Duster left he was not quite .003 early (.4979) giving the win to Losket.Losket's win was well deserved as he drove well all day.
Next up for the Buckeye S/SS series is a double weekend June 22nd at Edgewater Sports Park (Saturday) and June 23rd at Tri State Dragway (Sunday). This Southern Swing Double weekend should provide a great weekend of racing and one only tow into that area. Mark your schedules to join us.
