CECIL, Ga. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Extreme at the 2013 ADRL Tour presented by Speedtech, Hardee's Georgia Drags VII listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Jason Scruggs Runs 3.620/211.76, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.754/202.30, Was #6
2:41 p.m. The two Al Anabi cars were planning to run side-by-side for this session, but Von Smith's car would not fire and Scruggs made a single run. It was a nice one, the second-best run of the day. That put Scruggs in second place and moved Smith down toi third.
Jason Scruggs' incremental times: 60ft-0.922 sec., 330ft-2.447.
Smith's car was pushed back so the crew could work on it - since he did not make a burnout, he has until the end of the session to make a run.
Left Lane: Bubba Stanton Runs 4.303/124.14, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.829/203.09, Was #8
Right Lane: Alex Hossler Runs 6.674/82.61, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.567/212.29, Was #1
Both drivers pedaled their way down the track. Hossler will have one more chance today to back up his pending records, plus however many rounds he goes tomorrow.
Left Lane: Jay Diedrich Runs 3.839/191.32, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.889/55.74, Was #15
Right Lane: Danny Lowry Runs 3.976/198.90, Now #10; No Prior Run
Both made strong runs, but one of the cars made a loud POP at the finish line - probably Diedrich.
Now Mike Neal is outside the field.
Left Lane: Mick Snyder Runs 3.693/205.69, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.685/205.98, Was #4
Right Lane: Tommy D'Aprile Runs 3.680/206.01, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.730/205.29, Was #6
Wow! This would have been a great race, the cars side-by-side all the way. Snyder slowed slightly from his first run, D'Aprile improved slightly from his.
Mick Snyder's incremental times: 60ft-0.939 sec., 330ft-2.495.
Tommy D'Aprile's incremental times: 60ft-0.923 sec., 330ft-2.476.
Left Lane: Richard Holt Runs 6.214/65.74, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.522/46.72, Was #16
Right Lane: Gene Hector Runs 4.104/191.40, Now #11; No Prior Run
Hector's smallblock gets a 50 pound weight break.
Hector came off the line, the car bogged briefly, he pedaled and finished the run. Holt's car shook immediate;y. he backpedaled, shook again. Then, with little fanfare, the car started burning in the shutdown area. The fire truck got there in time to prevent severe damage.
Left Lane: Joey Martin Runs 7.185/78.56, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.415/78.93, Was #17
Right Lane: Brandon Snider Runs 3.673/208.39, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.341/96.25, Was #14
Martin's "Lowmad" shook and danced. he backpedaled, it did not help. Meanwhile, Snider made a very nice pass to move all the way up to third spot.
Left Lane: Neal Wantye Runs 6.525/80.64, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.503/78.98, Was #15
Right Lane: Mike Neal Runs 3.851/196.27, Now #11; Best prior run: 8.983/63.55, Was #18
Wantye shook and slowed. Neal made a strong run to move well into the field, bumping Martin - so the two cars not in the field are Joey Martin and Todd Tutterow, and Tutterow is sitting in the lanes, right behind the next pair.
Left Lane: Tim Tindle Runs 3.721/205.79, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.545/121.90, Was #14
Right Lane: John Stanley Runs 5.159/97.32, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.810/201.70, Was #8
Stanley's car shook hard and slowed. Tindle made a strong run and shuffled the bottom half of the field once more.
Right Lane: Todd Tutterow Runs 4.689/151.10, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.392/91.44, Was #18
Neal Wantye is on the bump spot at 6.503. His chances to stay there do not look good with Tutterow in position to bump him out.
The car spun the tire hard. He managed to get it hooked up enough to bump into the field anyway, bumping Wantye.
Now Richard Holt is on the bump spot at 6.214.
Left Lane: Von Smith Runs 3.673/208.42, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.674/208.04, Was #4
Right Lane: Frankie Taylor Runs 4.883/101.21, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.697/206.04, Was #7
Dr. Moon and the Al Anabi crew got Smith's starting problem sorted out and the car ran a thousandth better than it did in the first session, taking back the third spot by three hundredths of a mile per hour. Taylor shook and headed for the centerline, forcing him to lift.
