LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Pacific Division, event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed this round, amount over/under index this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time, speed & over/under Index, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Randy Goff Runs 10.078/87.64/1.428, Now #15; B/SMA Index: 8.65, Prior Best: 8.183/165.60/-0.467, Was #15
Right Lane: Steve Graham Runs 7.562/180.24/-0.468, Now #14; C/A Index: 8.03, Prior Best: 7.535/180.60/-0.495, Was #14

No joy, as neither car can improve.

Right Lane: Ralph Van Paepeghem Runs 7.491/175.23/-0.449, Now #16; A/EA Index: 7.94, Prior Best: 7.510/176.44/-0.430, Was #16

Van Paepeghem picks up a little ET, but stays #16.

Left Lane: Randy Jones No Time, Now #7; C/TA Index: 9.17, Prior Best: 8.619/153.75/-0.551, Was #7
Right Lane: Scott McClay Runs 7.422/177.70/-0.548, Now #8; C/ED Index: 7.97, Prior Best: 7.422/178.19/-0.548, Was #8

Jones is pushed away again before his burnout.

McClay leaves with the wheels up runs with prior best to the thousandth.

Left Lane: Tyler Hogan Runs 7.139/185.82/-0.551, Now #5; C/DA Index: 7.69, Prior Best: 7.122/186.38/-0.568, Was #4
Right Lane: Dean Carter Runs 7.070/184.83/-0.580, Now #3; B/ND Index: 7.65, Prior Best: 7.096/186.07/-0.554, Was #6

Hogan slows just a little, but gets a full pass this time.

Carter improves a little in ET, but gets three spots on the ladder on a strong pass.

Both cars improve, but stay in their current spot on strong passes.

Two very different ways of going altered racing: 5ooci BBC and 141ci Honda.

Lee finds a bunch of ET and power up the ladder to the new #6 spot.

Ellis finds move speed than ET and moves one spot up the ladder to the Number five spot.

Right Lane: Adam Bowdish Runs 8.234/163.77/-0.506, Now #13; B/SMA Index: 8.74, Prior Best: 8.216/164.03/-0.524, Was #13

Both cars slow just a tad to stay in their current spots.

Right Lane: Dale Giroux Runs 20.283/51.24/12.623, Now #11; B/AA Index: 7.66, Prior Best: 7.122/194.35/-0.538, Was #11

Giroux gets a single and spins the tires hard at the green. The Cavalier gets dead sideways before slowing. Lots of mopping on the line after he leaves, so there may have been Stuff helping to get the tires loose.

Right Lane: Brian Fitzpatrick Runs 6.753/203.80/-0.207, Now #19; H/D Index: 6.96, Prior Best: 6.833/209.88/-0.127, Was #19

Fitzpatrick has struggled with starting line issues, so far, and shatters the tires a little this time too. He picks up some ET, but not enough to get off the bottom half of the ladder.

Right Lane: Mike DePalma Runs 25.858/24.63/16.168, Now #1; I/SM Index: 9.69, Prior Best: 9.089/0.00/-0.601, Was #1

The front wheels go up and the front of the car makes a hard move towards the wall. Not a good combination. DePalma has to lift.

Right Lane: Aaron Strong Runs 9.757/101.08/0.877, Now #10; G/A Index: 8.88, Prior Best: 8.337/162.68/-0.543, Was #10

No big improvement this time, as Strong is off the power near the 3-4 shift.
