E1 0.049 3.666 209.72 ****WINNER**** 0.029 3.684 205.32

11:08 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 66 degrees, relative humidity 31 percent, barometer 29.79 inches, adjusted altitude 960 feet, track temperature 82 degrees.

Scruggs was very consistent through all three rounds of qualifying. Martin struggled through two rounds, then found the sweet spot to qualify.

Martin had a great light, but Scruggs led at 60 feet. It was close all the way, Martin on a holeshot and his best ET of the event. Joey Martin's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.006), 330 ft(0.013). MOV: 0.0024 seconds (approximately 9 inches).

202 Todd Tutterow 1130 John Stanley
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.030 3.700 206.57 -0.025 3.749 204.32

Stanley went red, then Tutterow ran his best ET of the event

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
277 Terry Leggett 217 Tim Tindle
E1 0.054 5.494 88.32 ****WINNER**** 0.039 3.737 206.92

Tindle left first, then Leggett's car got very tail-happy, what motorcycle riders call a "tankslapper." He had to lift and Tindle was unchallenged the rest of the way.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
69 Richard Holt 48 Brandon Snider
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.038 3.809 200.65 0.029 3.837 186.07
 Qualified: #12 3.910 189.79 #5 3.657 209.62
Holt started the weekend with a spinout at the finish line during the test session Friday.

They left almost together and Snider led past the 330-foot marker, but Holt made his best run of the weekend and took charge on the top end for the win.

Richard Holt's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.026), 330 ft(-0.009). MOV: 0.0196 seconds (approximately 5 feet).

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
128 Stefan Holmberg 2695 Bubba Stanton
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.093 4.273 178.92 0.035 4.966 117.47
 Qualified: #13 4.643 149.08 #4 3.622 203.58
Stanton was very quick during qualifying, Holmberg never did get the handle. So much for qualifying...at the green Stanton was away with a big holeshot, then ran into severe tire shake, the car fishtailing several times, and Holmberg drove by for the win.

The two upset winners, Holt and Holmberg, will face each other in round 2, Holt has lane choice.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
   18 Steve George 1382 Tommy D'Aprile
E1 0.117 No Time ****WINNER**** 0.053 4.029 184.25
 Qualified: #14 5.060 117.39 #3 3.614 208.78
This is a unique moment - D'Aprile looks out the window and sees...a school bus. But at the green, D'Aprile was away first, but vulnerable because he had to backpedal to get through shake. However, the school bus was out of the game almost immediately, something breaking on the launch.

D'Aprile faces Tindle in round 2, Tindle has lane choice.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
1 Mick Snyder 7 Alex Hossler
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.019 3.693 208.62 0.037 3.734 209.92
 Qualified: #15 5.096 95.66 #2 3.603 211.33
Snyder struggled during qualifying - even the schoool bus was quicker! Again, so much for qualifying. At the green, Snyder left first and was never headed, coming back to the form that won him the championship last year.

Snyder will have lane choice against Tutterow in round two.

E1 ****WINNER**** 0.107 4.853 99.84

Smith launched hard, then shut off at the 330 foot mark. He will not have lane choice against Martin in the second round.
