Part of the four day event is a 64-car Ultimate Shootout. The Shootout will separate 32 dragsters and 32 door cars run separately until the final round. The winner receives a brand new C-5 Don Davis Race Cars-built Corvette roadster, while the runner-up will end up with a 2013 RaceTech Evolution swing arm dragster. The semi-finalists receive $500. It's a great part of a great race but requires pre-entry. Or should we say "required," as within 36 hours of the announcement of the Shootout, both the dragster and door car classes were filled!
Beginning on Thursday, April 11, west coast bracket racers will be enjoying an event with payouts seemingly unknown except to those from the east. Three years ago, the team of Peter Biondo and Kyle Seipel turned their successes behind the wheel towards producing the K&N Spring Fling 20s presented by Sparco in Bristol, Tennessee. That event has not only grown in participation but also in stature.
Seipel said, "Based on the success of the Bristol event, we were constantly being asked when we were going to run a west coast version. Well the time is now and with a few tweaks in the program, The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is going to make it a reality."
While the Bristol Spring Fling hosts races in just one category, the Spring Fling Vegas will feature racing in two classes, Super Pro and Pro. Thursday's Warm-Up race sponsored by Baldwin Racing will hold $3,000 and $1,500 respectively as the winner's share. In Friday's race sponsored by Carrier and Sunday's Baldwin Racing sponsored races, that amount grows to $10,000 and $3,000, while Saturday's Silver State Refrigeration and Air Conditioning race increases to $10,000 and $5,000.
When you add in the over $30,000 in Racer Appreciation Giveaways, a Racer Appreciation Party on Saturday night along with the Spring Fling $20,000 Challenge for double and triple "0" reaction times, this is one race you surely don't want to miss.
Seipel said, "We're also proud to announce that the Spring Fling Vegas will have a television crew on hand to record all the action. Not Too Shabby Productions will utilize seven cameras (four in-car and three handhelds) to capture the action from this historic race."
Mike Shabareck of Not To Shabby Productions said, "When I was first approached about the idea I was real excited and thankful to put together a great production with the friends and family at a wonderful facility. With two great promoters, they've changed the sport of bracket racing with the Spring Fling brand."
In addition to the filming of the race, driver interviews and in-car shots will lead to an action packed film which every competitor will receive in the form of a DVD later in the year.
Seipel said, "When Peter and I first started this race promoting venture, we wanted to give the bracket racers the coverage they deserve. And with the help of our friends at JEGS, the west coast racers will get the professional feel at our Las Vegas race."
As the saying goes, "Race It, Experience It April 11-14, 2013.
