Left Lane: Tommy Grimes Runs 6.307/221.38, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.323/219.72, Was #2
Right Lane: Mike Ruggiero Runs 16.491/79.96, Now #10; Best prior run: 8.328/181.45, Was #10
4:12 p.m. Grimes elected to run in the first pair out, improved slightly, but stayed in the second spot. Ruggiero was up in smoke immediately, coasted through.
Left Lane: Jay Turner Runs 7.208/140.84, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.408/215.37, Was #3
Right Lane: Kevin Boyer Runs 8.142/195.36, Now #10; Best prior run: 8.442/182.30, Was #11
Boyer's engine went away early in the run. Turner was on a quick pace early in the run, but started slowing just before half track.
Left Lane: Steve Heidner Runs 20.379/54.94, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.727/202.85, Was #5
Right Lane: Andy Beauchemin Runs 6.976/187.83, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.892/207.78, Was #7
Heidner had problems almost immediately and idled through. Beauchemin struggled, but managed to finish the run.
Left Lane: Tony Ruggiero No Time, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.965/200.77, Was #8
Right Lane: Steve Dorn Runs 6.389/215.93, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.493/215.62, Was #4
Ruggiero cracked the throttle and the engine let go with a big flash of flame. He rolled about 50 feet, then stopped. Dorn made his best run of the weekend to move up one spot on the ladder.
Right Lane: Ron Gledhill Runs 6.538/211.00, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.804/202.70, Was #6
The numbers were not as good as the run looked, definitely Gledhill's best run so far, but not quite good enough to move him into the top half of the field.
Right Lane: Damian Cownden Runs 7.344/136.83, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.291/208.14, Was #1
This looked like it was going to be a good run, with good early incremental times, but Cownden clicked it off before the 1,000-foot marker.
