Chinn went red and Brown gets past his first hurdle.

Abruzzi needs to go a couple rounds to clinch, faced a big hurdle right here. It was a close race, Folse with a hundredth in hand after two very good reaction times, but Folse took too much stripe.

Palmer crashed in the first qualifying session, so Musi gets a competition single. She races Raftery in the quarterfinals.

Davis has a tough hill to climb toi win the championship, trailing by 333 points (four rounds). Since Abruzzi won in this round, Davis would have to win the event and set a record (and Abruzzi would have to stop winning).

Lair had a great light, but could not run the number and Davis advances. He faces Abruzzi's teammate Butcher in round two.

Gulitti's car used up a lot of lane, very close to the centerline at the stripe, but he ran dead-on his dial-in for the win. Bob Gulitti's MOV: 0.0201 seconds (approximately 5 feet). He will face Abruzzi in round two.
