NORWALK, Ohio -- After an extremely successful 2012 season, the International Hot Rod Association has announced its tracks and drivers of the year.
Announced at the IHRA Awards Celebration following the completion of the IHRA Summit Racing Equipment World Finals at Memphis International Raceway, the tracks and drivers of the year from the Summit Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL and Summit SuperSeries presented by AMSOIL and Moser Engineering each displayed successful seasons both on and off the track.
Beginning with the Summit Pro-Am Tour, the 2012 Trick Flow Top Performers in each division are Super Stock racer Brandon Peterson from Division 1, Top Dragster racer Steve Dweck from Division 2, Quick Rod racer Jeremy Mason from Division 3, Junior Dragster racer Trace Casey from Division 4, Quick Rod racer Eric Goulden from Division 6 and Hot Rod racer Chris Dean from Division 9.
The 2012 overall top performer from the Summit Pro-Am Tour was Chris Dean from Division 9. Dean accumulated an incredible 3 wins and 521 points on the Summit Pro-Am Tour - 131 points better than his closest competitor - to take the Division 9 crown in Hot Rod.
Over the weekend the IHRA also announced its tracks of the year from the Summit Pro-Am Tour. Those tracks were Maryland International Raceway from Division 1, Darlington Dragway from Division 2, U.S. 131 Motorsports Park from Division 3, Memphis International Raceway from Division 4, Castrol Raceway from Division 6 and Farmington Dragway from Division 9.
Finally, the IHRA also recognized its Summit SuperSeries tracks of the year. The Summit SuperSeries tracks of the year earn the title by showing positive growth and success on the track. The 2012 Summit SuperSeries tracks of the year are Maryland International Raceway in Division 1, Palm Beach International Raceway in Division 2, Thompson Dragway in Division 3, International Raceway Park in Division 4, Grand Bend Motorplex in Division 5, Alaska Raceway Park in Division 6, Southwestern International Raceway in Division 7 and Coastal Plains Dragway in Division 9.
The overall track of the year from the Summit SuperSeries was Wisconsin International Raceway located in Kaukauna, Wisconsin.
