NORWALK, Ohio --
Kicking off the season like years past will be the double event weekend at Maryland International Raceway. With a constantly improving National Event facility, the Miller Family and staff are anxious show IHRA Class racers a hospitable and competitive time. "We're happy to be a part of the sportsman program with the IHRA, as that's the backbone of drag racing," Miller said. " We are happy to continue being a part of IHRA Summit Pro Am tour and hope to increase the draw of spectators with more exciting programs to give the Class racers a venue to race in front of a crowd."
Richmond Dragway is back on the schedule for its second year on the Pro-Am Tour. Richmond will once again be a very economical event with a Pro-Am race on Saturday and a Sports National on Sunday which will also count as a Pro-Am claim. After an amazingly successful 2009 event and being awarded as the 2009 Division 1 Track of the year, Johnny Davis hasn't stopped returning on the investment of improving the facility, including fresh concrete on the starting line. "We are ready to build on the great start we had as we are putting the finishing touches on a number of improvements we have made at the facility," Davis said. "Our goal is to constantly provide a more enjoyable experience for our weekly racers as well as IHRA Pro-Am competitors and the 2009 Sportsman National event was a great morale boost for our team and certainly raises the bar for the future of the IHRA Pro-Am tour at Richmond Dragway."
New England Dragway will once again host the Pro-Am tour the weekend following the Nitro Jam National event, making the Northeast more accessible and economical to divisional racers. Track Manager Joe Lombardo understands the worth of providing a Nitro Jam event and two divisional races for one tow. "Because this event follows our North American Nationals we're certain some of the best racers in the Northeast will take another crack at a coveted world championship". Lombardo said. "Next year's Summit Pro-Am promises to ratchet up the competition level with the familiarity of the facility to Sportsman racers."
The top three Summit Pro Am Tour competitors in each class and in each division will qualify for the 2010 IHRA Tournament Of Champions that will be held at Virginia Motorsports Park in October. Additionally, competitors can also qualify by winning a Nitro Jam or any of the Champion Systems Sportsman Nationals events.
