SALEM, Ohio --
Quaker City celebrated its 50th anniversary last season with an O'Reilly Thunder Jam coupled with an anniversary celebration bracket race. This year track owner Dan Swindell is bringing back the Thunder Jam, this time in concert with a Summit Racing Equipment Division 1 Pro-Am event Aug. 15-17.
"The Thunder Jam and anniversary race was an incredible success in 2007," IHRA Division 1 director Joel Thompson said. "We're really looking forward to bringing the racing fans in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania a great show with the Thunder Jam and Pro-Am event together. Dan has a great schedule of local events put together for the 2008 racing season.he has Summit SuperSeries points meets, weekend test and tunes, grudge racing and all the things that keep a local track going. When you add the Thunder Jam and some of his bigger events you can't help but to be excited for the race season to get here."
Thompson is looking forward to great things at Quaker City.
"We are very proud to have our flag flying at Quaker City," Thompson said. "There have been a lot of rumors and speculation flying around the message boards about the track, but Dan really put those rumors to bed I would say. We are looking forward to being a part of something special at Quaker City Raceway for years to come."
Quaker City Raceway's season will open April 5.
