2004 Northwest Division Champions Honored at Awards Banquet

SEATTLE -- The annual Northwest Division banquet was a grand affair this past Saturday evening. Hosted at the DoubleTree Hotel Seattle Airport and attended by more than 300 of the Northwest's best who witnessed some very special moments in time that will be remembered for many, many years to come. The evening was highlighted by not only the two Northwest Division Hall of Fame inductions of Jim Green and Jerry Ruth but also by the very deserving Steve Federlin, who not only won the Top Alcohol Dragster championship, but the Top Alcohol Driver of the Year and the Ernie Hall Memorial Person of the Year award.

The 2005 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Northwest Division Champions honored this evening were Federlin in TAD, Bucky Austin (TAFC), Gary Anderson (Comp), Mark Faul (SS), Jody Lang (Stock), Adam Drzayich (SC), Mike Coltrin (SG), Jeff Jackson (SST), Jeff Devey (Top Comp), and Mark Kosler in Kerker Sportsman Motorcycle.

Summit Racing Series champions were Jeff Thompson in Super Pro, Kyle Saucy (Pro), Robert Classen (Sportsman), Chris Kasel (Snow/Bike), and Adam Tabor (High School) while Woodburn Dragstrip picked up both the Track Managers Challenge and Team Championship trophies.

Jr. Drag Racing League Champions from the ET Finals were Derek Rager in Lightning and Rochelle Pappel in Thunder.

Northwest National Open Series Champions crowned included Randy Johnson in Top Comp, Don Elgin in Stk/SS Combo AND Sportsman ET, Cory Thompson (SC), Ed Hutchinson (SG), Ray Carlson (SST), John Young (Super Pro), Shawn Kvaas (Pro), Jim Sibley (Snow/Bike), Gary Howe, Jr. (Jr. Lightning), and Tanis Brown (Jr. Thunder).

B.C. Bracket Champions were Al Quigley in Super Pro, Kvaas (Pro), David Rastad (Sportsman), and Glenn Miller (Snow/Bike).

The Land of the Leaders ET Challenge Champions were Robert Christensen from Madras Dragstrip (Super Pro), Nicole Brandner from North Central Motorsports Park (Pro), Gary Bullington from Firebird Raceway (Sportsman), and Stewart Kienas from Mission Raceway Park in Snow/Bike.

Special Awards given included:
Don Rhyne Memorial Jr. Driver of the Year - Tanis Brown
Rod Hoerner Memorial Rookie of the Year - John Young
Mel Bresaw Memorial ET Racer of the Year - Randy Johnson
National Dragster Team Spirit Award - Madras Dragstrip
Be A Winner, Be A Member Track of the Year - Woodburn Dragstrip
National Dragster Contributor of the Year - Scott New from Firebird Raceway
Most Improved Track - MHDRA Dragstrip, Medicine Hat, Alberta
Summit Racing Series Track of the Year - Bremerton Raceway
Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Track of the Year - Woodburn Dragstrip
Sponsor of the Year - Lucas Oil
Sportsman Crew Chief of the Year - Hans Mogensen
Sportsman Driver of the Year - Brad Plourd
Jerry Verheul Memorial Top Alcohol Crew Chief of the Year - Steve Boggs
