Woodburn Dragstrip Honors Champions at Awards Dinner

WOODBURN, Ore.-- Woodburn Dragstrip, Champions in nine classes were offically crowned at Woodburn Dragstrip's 25th Annual Awards Dinner. The ceremony was held Saturday, November 23 at the Holiday Inn in Wilsonville, Ore.

Dave Flett was voted Driver of the Year for his efforts in winning his first Pro Eliminator title. Flett lost in the first round just once in 2002. Other champions included Julie Merritt who is the first woman to win the Super Pro title at Woodburn. Merritt was also voted Most Improved Driver. Dave Wilson (Sportsman), Mark Kosler (Motorcycle), Ryan Miller (High School), Adam DePeel (Jr. Lightning), Charlie Tiller (Jr. Thunder), Mark Hunt (Import Pro), and Derrick Jackson (Import Sportsman) were also honored. Jackson won his sixth Woodburn championship in 2002.

Other honorees included: Tom Pierson (Person of the Year); Les Schwab Tire Centers (Sponsor of the Year); Adam DePeel and Charlie Tiller (Jr. Dragster Driver of the Year); Tyson Parker and Mike George (Most Improved Jr. Dragster Driver); Michael McManus and Jessica Miller (Jr. Dragster Rookie of the Year); and Modern Plumbing (Jr. Dragster Sponsor of the Year).
