MARTIN, Mich. -- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: DragRacingGirls.com top fuel driver, Bobby Lagana Jr. and the Twilight Zone team experienced a career weekend at the 23rd Annual Torco Racing Fuels Northern Nationals held at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park this past weekend. The weekend started in spectacular fashion in Friday's 1st qualifying session when Lagana wheeled the DragRacingGirls.com top fueler to a career best 4.74 at 305.70 putting him in the number one spot heading into the 2nd qualifying session while giving brother, Dom Lagana a wonderful 19th birthday present.

Lagana headed into eliminations in a career best, number three spot facing Chris "the Greek" Karamesines. This was a battle of young verses old as Lagana is the youngest active IHRA top fuel driver at 26 years old and Karamesines is the oldest at 73 years old. At the hit, Karamesines cut a little too close on the tree and red lighted giving Lagana his first round win of the year with a tire-smoking 7.44 at 106.00.

Second round action pitted Lagana with the most recent event winner, Doug Foley, who had won in the previous two first round match ups against Lagana in the last two races. Lagana wheeled the Jay Lewis tuned machine to a great 4.78 at 286.19 to defeat the red-lighting Foley who coasted to a 12.12 at 76.34.

The Lagana crew quickly hurried the DragRacingGirls.com top fueler back to the pits to service the car for Bobby's first final round appearance since Epping in 1999. As luck would have it, Lagana would be facing good friend, Clay Millican of Team Werner/Lehman Racing in the final round. The Lagana team thrashed to get the car together for the final round held during the Saturday Night of Fire. At the green, Lagana smoked the tires and spun a rear main bearing slowing to a 12.75 at 80.14 and ending his attempt for his first career win, while Millican streaked to a 4.72 at a track record breaking speed of 311.27 to take his sixth win of the season.

Lagana was ecstatic with the performance of the car during the weekend. "This weekend has just been awesome from beginning to end. Coming out during the first qualifying shot and running a career best 4.74 and taking the number one spot for that session was just fantastic. Then, to make it to the finals running a 4.78 in the second round was even better," said Lagana. "I really need to thank my entire crew who worked so hard in making this happen for the team. Starting with crew chief Jay Lewis who has done an excellent job tuning the car, my Dad Bobby Sr., Al LaManna, my brother Dom Lagana, Mark Herzhauser, Pete and Cris Tucci, Sal Inguanti, Paul Kelly, Robin Stambaugh, and Rob Bruce. My crew is so awesome and I love working with them and I 'm happy to share this career weekend with them." Lagana continued, "I also have to thank all the sponsors that have supported us and helped along the way.

DragRacingGirls.com, Rescue 1, Tom Stephens Racing, Burke Designs, Behrent's, Howards Cams, American Racing Wheels, RMI Titanium, SSI, Cargo Pal, Auto Meter, Unilux Boiler Corporation, Standard Abrasives, Fram and Autolite have all been great and we wouldn't be here without them. I just have to thank everyone who made this the best weekend of my career!"

Lagana remains in the number five spot in the 2004 Hooters IHRA Points Standings heading into the 27th Annual Sunoco World Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio on August 25th - 28th. Next up for the DragRacingGirls.com top fuel dragster is a special match race on Saturday, August 21st at Quaker City Raceway in Salem, Ohio.
