Top Alcohol Dragster Round 1 Eliminations

LAS VEGAS - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 13th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals:

9:27 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 69 degrees, relative humidity 28 percent, barometer 27.84 inches, adjusted altitude 3,446 feet.

Severance leaves the line, starts hazing the tires, then backs off the throttle about 200 feet out. Mercier goes right down the groove and pulls away for the win.

Tumbarello is in as an alternate for Hunter.

St. Arnaud gets out of the gate first, starts pulling away, then extends his lead all the way through the run.

Bradshaw goes right down the groove with a good pass to take the win. Olivarez put out a cylinder early and was falling behind all the way through the run.

Cowie gets out of the gate first, then Martin reels him in quickly and goes around before they reach the sixty foot mark. Martin pulls away for the win and will have lane choice over Bradshaw in the next round.

Ahten goes up in smoke at the hit and has to give up on the run quickly. Taliaferro makes his quickest pass of the weekend and pulls away for the win.

McKernan makes her quickest pass of the weekend but fell behind quickly. Bateman looked like he had a cylinder out on the left side late in the run but was able to hang on for the win.

Garrett Bateman's incremental margins: 60ft(0.159), 330 ft(0.194), 660ft(0.199), 1,000ft(0.183). MOV: 0.1713 seconds (approximately 66 feet).

Whiteley goes right down the groove with the quickest pass of the event and pulls away for the win. Shields makes his quickest pass of the event but was falling behind all the way through the run.

Demke rattled the tires off the line but drove through and made a good pass. Ashwell had traction problems early and had to back off the throttle.

In the next round it will be Demke with lane choice over Mercier, Martin vs. Bradshaw, Whiteley vs. St. Arnaud, and Taliaferro vs. Bateman.
