BRAINERD, Minn. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 32nd annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Dave Allison Runs 8.285/139.78, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.181/239.14, Was #9

Weather conditions: air temperature 80 degrees, relative humidity 41 percent, barometer 28.81 inches, adjusted altitude 3,289 feet, track temperature 108 degrees.

allison with violent tire shake right at the hit and pedals it a couple times. He can't get it to hook up.

Left Lane: Lance Van Hauen Runs 5.891/205.85, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.799/246.17, Was #8
Right Lane: Dale Brand Runs 11.985/44.91, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.689/255.73, Was #7

Brand bangs the blower and the chutes come out. No help here for Van Hauen...

Right Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 5.602/256.55, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.657/255.43, Was #4

Hool with a great looking pass to go to the number two spot, straight down the groove. Kris Hool's incremental times: 60ft-0.952 sec., 330ft-2.472, 660ft-3.672/206.48 mph, 1,000ft-4.702. Whiteley was right there with him. Annie Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.954 sec., 330ft-2.491, 660ft-3.695/205.69 mph, 1,000ft-4.727.

Left Lane: Andy Bohl Runs 5.646/254.23, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.661/256.06, Was #6
Right Lane: Scott McVey Runs 5.654/252.99, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.640/254.71, Was #5

Bohl improves, but stays in the number six spot. Andy Bohl's incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.508, 660ft-3.723/203.68 mph, 1,000ft-4.762. McVey with another good pass, but will not improve. Scott McVey's incremental times: 60ft-0.956 sec., 330ft-2.500, 660ft-3.722/202.79 mph, 1,000ft-4.767.

Left Lane: Jay Payne Runs 5.623/255.82, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.634/257.09, Was #4
Right Lane: Frank Manzo Runs 5.557/259.76, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.559/260.66, Was #1

Payne improves, but stays in the number two spot. Jay Payne's incremental times: 60ft-0.965 sec., 330ft-2.502, 660ft-3.710/205.60 mph, 1,000ft-4.744.
