MOHNTON, Pa. - Marty Flegal and Brock Moshier both come from Lancaster County to race at Maple Grove Raceway, the two are friendly rivals. The two compete in the Ciccarone Racing Products Pro Eliminator in the Sunoco Race Fuels Money Trail E.T. Series and over the years, they've each had their share of success on The Grove's quartermile.
Saturday, in the Sunoco Race Fuels E.T. Series opener, Flegal and Moshier both met in the final in what could be a preview of a fun summer of racing. This time it was Flegal (Lititz, Pa.) and his 1998 S-10 pickup taking the win light.
Flegal went 9.160 seconds at 136.83 mph that was just .01 over his dial-in. Moshier (Lititz, Pa.) and his '71 Vega. Moshier's run was 9.075 at 136.30, just .03 over.
Flegal had a bye into the final, but had to beat veteran Ron Mellinger (Narvon, Pa.) in the quarterfinals. He used a great .011 reaction time and a run of 9.160 at 140.90 that was just .01 over the dial. That green light was needed as Mellinger was .002 over, but was .034 off the line.
Meanwhile, Moshier needed to get past veteran Dave Sciarretta (Honey Brook, Pa.) in the quarters with a perfect run of 9.020 at 144.78, then beat Bob Kelly Sr. (Perkasie, Pa.) in the semis by surviving a double-breakout.
A couple of door cars reached the final in Gold Rush Trailers Super. Mike Barber (Douglassville, Pa.) took the win in his '92 Mustang, defeating Jeff Allebach (Perkiomenville, Pa.) and his '73 Camaro.
Barber raced to a pass of 9.831 at 130.76 in the final that was .03 over the dial, while Allebach was .01. However, Barber's RT was .021, which was .023 quicker.
In the quarterfinals, Barber had a bye run, while Allebach used a better reaction time to defeat Al Ettore (Cherry Hill, N.J.).
Both had competition from dragsters in the semis. Barber raced past Don Mattson (Mohnton, Pa.) with a run of 9.803 at 136.43 and Allebach beat Alan Carr (Allentown, Pa.) by going 10.364 at 127.56.

Reiff had a bye in the quarters and had a tall order in beating Sciarretta in the semis, but took advantage of a great reaction time. Horst survived a double-breakout run against Jennifer Kershner (New Tripoli, Pa.), and then got the better of Paul Bretz (Slatington, Pa.) in the semis.
Defending Money Trail Ray's Yamaha Top Bike champion Kyle Gockley (Mohnton, Pa.) got off to a great start in his title defense with a victory. In a final featuring another former MGR champ, Joe Stuebner (Hamburg, Pa.), Gockley went 9.204 at 143.25
