By Larry Sullivan

CECIL, Ga. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Extreme Pro Stock at the 2013 ADRL Tour presented by Speedtech, Hardee's Georgia Drags VII listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Dean Goforth Runs 4.206/172.81, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.575/79.97, Was #10
Right Lane: Kevin Bealko Runs 4.168/174.19, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.191/172.70, Was #5

1:56 p.m. Both drivers improved from their first run - Bealko staying fifth, Goforth moving up to sixth.

Left Lane: John Pluchino Runs 8.109/54.71, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.776/111.01, Was #7
Right Lane: Doug Kirk Runs 4.158/176.67, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.140/175.64, Was #4

Pluchino shook and slowed. Kirk made another good run, slowed slightly from his first run.

Left Lane: Cale Aronson Runs 4.133/175.00, Now #5; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Cary Goforth Runs 4.116/177.21, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.820/72.13, Was #11

Aronson left before the tree was activated in round one, oforth slowed with tire shake.

Both made good runs this time out, moving to the 4th and 5th spots.

That puts Scott Hintz on the outside of the field, for now.

Left Lane: Brian Gahm Runs 4.150/177.00, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.765/83.51, Was #11
Right Lane: Scott Hintz Runs 7.558/84.96, Now #13; Best prior run: 12.367/32.46, Was #17

Hintz shook immediately, but enough others have done the same that he gets back into the field on a busted run.

Gahm made a full pass, mpoved into the top half of the field.

Now Rockingham (and Tulsa) winner John Deflorian Jr. is the odd man out.

Left Lane: Elijah Morton Runs 5.485/137.58, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.264/99.15, Was #12
Right Lane: Pete Berner Runs 4.644/134.26, Now #10; Best prior run: 9.705/48.53, Was #16

Morton's car made a hard right turn and he had to lift. Berner did better, but he had to backpedal in the middle of the run - probably to get hrough shake.

That shuffled the field, putting Ron Miller on the bump spot at 8.632.

Left Lane: Trevor Eman Runs 5.916/105.21, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.063/177.44, Was #1
Right Lane: Mark Martino Runs 7.374/84.77, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.111/176.60, Was #3

Both cars launched into instant tire shake.

Left Lane: Lester Cooper Runs 4.194/173.63, Now #9; Best prior run: 8.562/56.57, Was #15
Right Lane: John Montecalvo Runs 4.544/172.41, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.977/114.88, Was #12

Montecalvo dragged his old Cobalt "out of the barn" for this weekend.

The Cobalt tried to turn left on the launch, forcing Montecalvo to backpedal to get back in the groove. Cooped made a good run, moved up near the middle of the field.

Right Lane: John Deflorian Jr. Runs 4.192/173.63, Now #9; Best prior run: 9.895/42.43, Was #17

Deflorian was currently outside the field after winning the first two "Mountain-Motor" Pro Stock races of the year. Ron Miller is on the bump spot at 8.632, did not make a run in this session.

Now Deflorian is in, but in the bottom half, and Miller is on the outside.

Right Lane: Richard Penland Runs 9.747/44.91, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.079/177.25, Was #2

Penland made an excellent run in the first session, but he swuared the tries off on the launch this time out and abandoned the run.
