Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Final Session

DINWIDDIE, Va. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Northeast Division, event at Virginia Motorsports Park listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Bruce Horner Runs 5.824/239.27, Now #12; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Rich McPhillips Runs 5.606/252.66, Now #9; No Prior Run

7:32 p.m. - Horner did not make a run in the first session and McPhillips did a burnout but did not go down the track, so it came down to this run for both of them. Neither driver got the run they needed so they will not be in the field for eliminations tomorrow.

Left Lane: Artie Allen Runs 5.695/237.67, Now #12; No Prior Run

Allen's run looked a bit sluggish and he did not make the field.

Left Lane: Randy Meyer Runs 5.471/266.11, Now #2; Best prior run: 10.969/81.54, Was #15
Right Lane: Frank Schuster Runs 5.685/235.35, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.595/247.34, Was #8

Meyer had s trong run to move from outside the field to the number two spot in the order. Schuster was on the bump spot and got pushed out of the field. Rishi Kanick is on the bump spot at 5.588 seconds.

Left Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 5.777/253.52, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.683/251.67, Was #12
Right Lane: Rishi Kanick Runs 5.607/265.17, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.588/237.96, Was #8

Kanick, from Trinidad & Tobago, was on the bump spot when he staged and Stalba was not in the field. Stalba was not quick enough to make the field, Kanick was slower than earlier today but stayed on the bump spot.

Left Lane: Richard Bourke Runs 5.615/257.14, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.662/251.77, Was #11
Right Lane: Wayne Morris Runs 5.556/247.34, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.526/257.73, Was #5

Bourke was quicker than this afternoon but not quick enough to make the field. Morris also had a good run but not quick enough to make the field.

Left Lane: John Finke Runs 5.579/254.71, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.565/255.92, Was #7
Right Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.669/245.76, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.501/249.39, Was #4

A pair of good runs that had no effect on the qualifying order.

Left Lane: Dan Page Runs 5.424/265.64, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.535/258.86, Was #6
Right Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.438/256.16, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.497/259.21, Was #3

Page took over the top spot in the order with a string ride down the track. Shields was quicker than this afternoon, but not quick enough to move up in the order.

Right Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 15.925/59.53, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.431/258.22, Was #2

Mercier launched, went about two feet and went up in smoke.
