For Fourth Annual Hot Rods and Hot Cakes Breakfast and "Take it to the Track" Golf Tournament

CONCORD, N.C. -- Fans can play a round of golf alongside some of the NHRA's best on Thursday, April 18 or enjoy Hot Rods and Hot Cakes Saturday, April 20, all in support of two great causes during the fourth annual Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals fueled by Full Throttle at zMAX Dragway. The Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities (SCC) and B.R.A.K.E.S. are teaming up for a golf tournament and pancake fundraiser to benefit both organizations.

The "Take it to the Track" golf tournament will be held at nearby Rocky River Golf Club in Concord, N.C., on Thursday, April 18. Entry fees for the tournament are $100 per person, and teams of four can register for $400. The entry fee includes golf fees, cart, food and beverage. Mulligan and raffle tickets will be available on site. The deadline for entry is April 11, unless sold out prior. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Those interested in participating can visit http://charlotte.speedwaycharities.org/events/golf_tournament/ or contact B.R.A.K.E.S. at 704-720-3806. "Even though I can't play golf very well, I look forward to joining all my NHRA friends to play and raise money and awareness for our great charities," said Doug Herbert, founder of B.R.A.K.E.S.

"And no one would want to miss our pancake breakfast on Saturday morning at the track. Last year we were joined by almost every Pro driver, and the comedy show that John Force and Antron Brown put on was priceless!" The Hot Rods and Hot Cakes breakfast, held on Saturday of the Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in the zMAX Dragway pavilion from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., will give fans the opportunity to eat breakfast alongside NHRA's most notable team owners and drivers.

"Your favorite driver may even be flipping your pancakes or refilling your coffee," said Lisa Starnes, director of the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities. "It's a great opportunity to support a good cause and have some fun at the same time."

Tickets for the Hot Rods and Hot Cakes breakfast may be purchased in advance for $10 or the day of the event for $15. Proceeds will help SCC continue to support local children in need as well as help B.R.A.K.E.S. to teach teens the importance of safe driving. To purchase tickets, please call Martha Walker, associate director of B.R.A.K.E.S., at 704-720-3806 or email martha.walker@putonthebrakes.com. Tickets will also be on sale on Friday in the midway at the Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals.

The greatest spectacle in drag racing, the fourth annual Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals is coming up April 19-21 at zMAX Dragway. Fans can purchase three tickets and get one free. Kids 13 and under get in free with a paying adult. Every ticket is a pit pass, giving fans access to their favorite drivers for autographs and photos, plus the chance to see the fastest accelerating machines on the planet up close.
