Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Session #2

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 44th annual Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: John Finke Runs 8.996/103.83, Now #15; Best prior run: 24.341/22.77, Was #20

Finke is up in smoke and he pedals it and is back up in smoke and he attempts it a couple more time and never gets it to hook up. He does get in the show for now.

Left Lane: Randy Meyer Runs 5.579/262.69, Now #11; Best prior run: 9.451/135.47, Was #16
Right Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 5.433/258.62, Now #6; Best prior run: 13.645/73.42, Was #20

Meyer with a clean pass to get in the show. Randy Meyer's incremental times: 60ft-0.964 sec., 330ft-2.610, 660ft-3.779/218.76 mph, 1,000ft-4.741. Stalba with a real nice pass to go to the top half of the show. Karen Stalba's incremental times: 60ft-0.924 sec., 330ft-2.437, 660ft-3.594/214.86 mph, 1,000ft-4.577.

Left Lane: Bill Evans Runs 9.411/86.67, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.919/132.22, Was #16
Right Lane: Al Moeser Runs 5.547/260.61, Now #11; Best prior run: 11.516/73.90, Was #20

Evans is up in smoke right off the starting line. Moser with a real nice pass, straight down the groove to get in the show.Al Moeser's incremental times: 60ft-0.928 sec., 330ft-2.531, 660ft-3.699/213.64 mph, 1,000ft-4.692.

Left Lane: Matthew Cummings Runs 6.562/119.21, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.178/204.88, Was #16
Right Lane: Dan Page Runs 5.267/274.55, Now #1; Best prior run: 10.789/69.72, Was #20

No help here for Cummings. Page launch hard was straight down the drove to go to the number one spot. Dan Page's incremental times: 60ft-0.931 sec., 330ft-2.390, 660ft-3.508/223.95 mph, 1,000ft-4.455. Page with a big top end speed, a career best speed and just off his career best E.T.

Left Lane: Dave Hirata Runs 5.332/269.46, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.679/249.16, Was #16
Right Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.617/264.49, Now #15; Best prior run: 9.504/86.61, Was #20

Hirata with a real nice pass to get in the top half of the show. Dave Hirata's incremental times: 60ft-0.925 sec., 330ft-2.417, 660ft-3.549/221.67 mph, 1,000ft-4.506. Shields with a clean pass to get in the show for now.

Left Lane: Richard Bourke Runs 5.546/258.67, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.643/256.45, Was #16
Right Lane: Dan Dietrich Runs 5.477/260.66, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.670/240.81, Was #17

Bourke gets off the bubble with a nice pass. Richard Bourke's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.508, 660ft-3.681/212.43 mph, 1,000ft-4.684. Dietrich runs his career quickest and fastest pass to go to the number 10 spot. Dan Dietrich's incremental times: 60ft-0.963 sec., 330ft-2.428, 660ft-3.604/207.75 mph, 1,000ft-4.609.

Left Lane: Frank Schuster Runs 5.419/255.82, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.541/247.75, Was #13
Right Lane: Artie Allen Runs 5.444/255.39, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.345/263.00, Was #6

Schuster with his career quickest pass to get into the top half of the show. Frank Schuster's incremental times: 60ft-0.890 sec., 330ft-2.345, 660ft-3.525/207.82 mph, 1,000ft-4.548. Allen with another good pass, but with no help.

Left Lane: Mike Burns Runs 5.509/260.61, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.501/261.42, Was #13
Right Lane: Rich McPhillips Runs 5.370/258.62, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.321/260.61, Was #4

Weather conditions: air temperature 69 degrees, relative humidity 35 percent, barometer 29.92 inches, adjusted altitude 1,108 feet, track temperature 92 degrees.

Burns with another good pass, but will not improve. Mike Burns' incremental times: 60ft-0.958 sec., 330ft-2.438, 660ft-3.627/208.01 mph, 1,000ft-4.647. McPhillips with another good pass, but he will not improve. Rich McPhillips' incremental times: 60ft-0.936 sec., 330ft-2.433, 660ft-3.562/221.78 mph, 1,000ft-4.522.

Left Lane: Robin Samsel Runs 9.754/84.79, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.460/261.37, Was #10
Right Lane: Bill Reichert Runs 5.291/272.45, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.286/263.98, Was #2

Samsel shook as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it off. Reichert launched hard and keep it hooked up with another great looking pass, the second quickest of the round. He will not improve...Bill Reichert's incremental times: 60ft-0.962 sec., 330ft-2.413, 660ft-3.526/224.14 mph, 1,000ft-4.473.

Left Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 35.759/43.26, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.316/263.56, Was #3

Mercier is up in smoke as soon as he hits the throttle and clicks it off.
