Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #2

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 44th annual Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: JR Carr Runs 6.635/209.56, Now #17; Best prior run: 14.012/60.27, Was #21

Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 28 percent, barometer 42.00 inches, adjusted altitude 2,996 feet, track temperature 105 degrees.

Carr makes a full pull here, but will not get in the show. He will start over tomorrow with no time.


Left Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.567/211.69, Now #15; Best prior run: 13.908/60.97, Was #21
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 8.547/151.48, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.111/208.94, Was #18

Johnson shook and pushed in the clutch...he will start tomorrow with no time. Hartford makes good move in the right direction, but he will not get in the show.

Left Lane: John Gaydosh Jr Runs 6.773/204.45, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.337/160.44, Was #21
Right Lane: Mark Martino Runs 6.603/210.44, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.614/211.06, Was #16

Gaydosh improves, but not enough to get in the show. Martino with a little improvement, but not enough.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 11.103/82.66, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.135/206.83, Was #21
Right Lane: Lewis Worden Runs 6.583/210.08, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.565/210.28, Was #14

Morgan shook and pushed in the clutch. No help here for Worden.

Left Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 6.557/211.83, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.623/211.99, Was #17
Right Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.560/211.53, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.554/211.59, Was #13

Jones makes a move in the right direction. No help here for Brogdon.

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 12.645/68.53, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.537/211.73, Was #12
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 7.438/139.73, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.536/211.59, Was #11

Stanfield got real loose early in the run and clicked it off early. Johnson pushed the clutch in early.

Left Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 6.536/212.39, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.515/212.59, Was #9
Right Lane: Shane Gray Runs 11.428/77.27, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.518/211.33, Was #10

Gray shook and clicked it off. No help here for McGaha.

Left Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 7.102/148.54, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.513/212.86, Was #8
Right Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 6.510/213.54, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.505/212.66, Was #7

Nobile shook and clicked it off. Another good pass with the new car, but she will not improve.

Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.513/213.00, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.493/212.03, Was #5

Gaines in the previous round ran his career fastest pass and that also tied for the ninth fastest pass in the history of Pro Stock. Gaines shook hard right off the starting line and clicked it off. Anderson will not improve, but runs his fastest pass of the season. This is the second quickest pass of the round. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.738, 660ft-4.197/168.98 mph, 1,000ft-5.454.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.499/213.70, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.481/213.64, Was #2
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.509/213.40, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.492/213.16, Was #4

AJ made the third quickest pass in the history of Pro Stock earlier today and tied for the fifth fastest pass. Johnson with a great pass the quickest of the session and now has the fifth fastest pass in the history of Pro Stock. Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.736, 660ft-4.193/169.36 mph, 1,000ft-5.445. Coughlin with the second quickest pass of the round and he runs his career fastest pass. Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.744, 660ft-4.202/169.10 mph, 1,000ft-5.454.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.480/214.08, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.473/214.31, Was #1
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.530/213.40, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.483/213.10, Was #3

Line ran the sixth quickest pass in the earlier round today and has another good pass, his fastest of the season. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.755, 660ft-4.217/168.96 mph, 1,000ft-5.473. Edwards ran the quickest pass in the history of Pro Stock and the second fastest earlier today...he launches hard and runs another great pass. This is the third quickest pass in the history of Pro stock and it is quick enough to back up the National record. This is the third fastest pass in the history of Pro Stock. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.755, 660ft-4.217/168.96 mph, 1,000ft-5.473.
