Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Session #1

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 44th annual Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Jimmy Keen Runs 6.066/235.23, Now #1
Right Lane: Eric Dillard Runs 6.728/161.50, Now #2

Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 28 percent, barometer 42.00 inches, adjusted altitude 2,996 feet, track temperature 105 degrees.

Dillard was out of the groove and clicked it off early. Keen with a nice pass, straight down the groove. Jimmy Keen's incremental times: 60ft-1.025 sec., 330ft-2.683, 660ft-3.994/189.23 mph, 1,000ft-5.113.


Left Lane: Von Smith Runs 11.053/77.66, Now #4
Right Lane: Brad Personett Runs 6.936/222.47, Now #3

Smith starts to shake right at the hit and clicks it off. Personett shakes and pedals it....

Left Lane: Raymond Matos Runs 6.108/230.76, Now #2
Right Lane: Chris Juliano Runs 6.374/203.58, Now #3

This was a good side-by-side drag race as they go to the number two and three spots. Raymond Matos' incremental times: 60ft-1.009 sec., 330ft-2.670, 660ft-3.994/186.43 mph, 1,000ft-5.135.
Chris Juliano's incremental times: 60ft-1.009 sec., 330ft-2.770, 660ft-4.149/180.04 mph, 1,000ft-5.327.

Left Lane: Doug Winters Runs 6.731/158.37, Now #5
Right Lane: Adam Flamholc Runs 7.376/135.86, Now #7

Flamholc was on a good pass and then just past halt track there was a quick flash and the car went silent. Winters clicked it off early.

Left Lane: Harold Martin Runs 5.996/227.77, Now #1
Right Lane: Clint Satterfield Runs 6.968/231.56, Now #8

Satterfield spun hard right at the hit and had the car side ways before he lifted. Martin launched hard and keep it hooked up to run his career quickest pass to go to the number one spot. Harold Martin's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.632, 660ft-3.934/190.70 mph, 1,000ft-5.043.

Left Lane: Chip King Runs 9.690/90.25, Now #10
Right Lane: Mike Janis Runs 9.769/92.61, Now #11

Janis with a lot of tire shake and clicked it off. King was real loose right at the hit and he clicked it off. The word from the track is there is oil right at the starting line, so King might of got in his own oil.

Left Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 8.596/118.11, Now #11
Right Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 5.995/246.89, Now #1

Knowles shook right at the hit and clicked it off. Lang launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number one spot. Kenny Lang's incremental times: 60ft-1.022 sec., 330ft-2.703, 660ft-3.998/193.90 mph, 1,000ft-5.084.

Left Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 12.386/91.21, Now #16
Right Lane: Pete Farber Runs 5.980/245.14, Now #1

Matusek shook right at the hit and clicked it off. Farber with a great looking pass, straight down the groove to the number one spot. Pete Farber's incremental times: 60ft-1.004 sec., 330ft-2.668, 660ft-3.968/192.58 mph, 1,000ft-5.062.

Left Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 5.893/248.80, Now #1
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 5.960/243.15, Now #2

This was a great side-by-side drag race as these two go to the top of the list. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.633, 660ft-3.912/195.53 mph, 1,000ft-4.989.
Rickie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.008 sec., 330ft-2.667, 660ft-3.949/194.04 mph, 1,000ft-5.038.

Left Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 6.059/236.67, Now #6
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 7.738/125.13, Now #15

Coughlin shook early and clicked it off. Castellana was off the throttle early and he will get into the top half of the show. Mike Castellana's incremental times: 60ft-1.008 sec., 330ft-2.683, 660ft-3.993/189.36 mph, 1,000ft-5.111.
