Nostalgia Pro Mod Qualifying Notes, Final Session

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Nostalgia Pro Mod at the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series, California Hot Rod Reunion XXI listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Bret Williamson Runs 6.157/222.55, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.210/229.08, Was #4
Right Lane: Marc Meadors Runs 6.011/206.20, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.127/240.98, Was #2

4:15 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 89 degrees, relative humidity 33 percent, barometer 29.08 inches, adjusted altitude 3,209 feet.

John Overholser is on the bump spot at 6.933.

Meadors makes a strong pass to near the finish line, where the Camaro slows. It still good enough to take over the new top spot. The report from the top end is a lot of oil and blower pieces after the 1000 foot lights.

Clean pass for Williamson and he moves up a spot on the current ladder.

Bret Williamson's incremental times: 60ft-1.031 sec., 330ft-2.698, 660ft-4.039/184.93 mph, 1,000ft-5.180.
Marc Meadors' incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.623, 660ft-3.890/194.69 mph, 1,000ft-4.983.


Left Lane: Mike Doushgonian No Time, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.015/182.95, Was #9
Right Lane: John Overholser Runs 10.949/78.86, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.933/202.48, Was #8

4:27 p.m. Back to qualifying.

Doushgonian's chute pops out before he stages and Overholser loses the blower belt before the 330 lights. No joy for either team!

Left Lane: Rob Cacioppo Runs 6.494/226.09, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.490/206.16, Was #6
Right Lane: Terry Housley Runs 12.950/90.40, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.167/233.80, Was #4

Housley shakes at the green and slows.

Cacioppo picked up almost 20 MPH, but slows by 0.004.

Rob Cacioppo's incremental times: 60ft-1.080 sec., 330ft-2.877, 660ft-4.298/176.10 mph, 1,000ft-5.494.

Left Lane: John Scialpi Runs 7.398/164.59, Now #10; Best prior run: 8.448/127.01, Was #10
Right Lane: Scott Bailey Runs 6.027/243.85, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.054/240.64, Was #2

John Overholser is on the bump spot at 6.933.

Scialpi's Chevy has a strong leave, but the car starts a steady move towards the wall and he has to pedal.

Great looking pass for Bailey and he runs better than earlier to stay number two for now.

John Scialpi's incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.986, 660ft-4.671/146.91 mph, 1,000ft-6.104.
Scott Bailey's incremental times: 60ft-1.009 sec., 330ft-2.717, 660ft-4.008/191.70 mph, 1,000ft-5.104.

Left Lane: Joe Lopone Jr. Runs 6.384/226.01, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.495/221.16, Was #7
Right Lane: Sean Renteria Runs 7.001/235.02, Now #9; Best prior run: 14.089/72.94, Was #11

Renteria has a good leave, then starts to spin the tires. He pumps it a couple of times and powers on down the track for a BIG MPH for the ET.

Lopone makes a clean pass to move two spots up the ladder into the final number five spot.

Joe Lopone Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-1.086 sec., 330ft-2.828, 660ft-4.212/179.09 mph, 1,000ft-5.390.
Sean Renteria's incremental times: 60ft-1.093 sec., 330ft-3.319, 660ft-4.833/170.15 mph, 1,000ft-6.032.

Right Lane: Mike Doushgonian Runs 9.702/85.77, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.015/182.95, Was #10

Take two after a chute malfunction earlier. He leaves, shakes, and lifts.
