Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #2

MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 28th annual Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.896/301.27, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.510/91.58, Was #17

McMillen with a real nice pass as he gets in the show. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.178, 660ft-3.112/271.73 mph.

Left Lane: Ike Maier Runs 4.043/267.37, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.825/156.99, Was #16
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.760/326.95, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.036/142.00, Was #17

As the sun goes down the header flames are visible. Lucas launched hard and was on a great looking pass until right in the lights when he got real loose, but still goes to the number one spot. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.141, 660ft-3.020/287.53 mph. Maier was on a good pass and then the engine went silent around 800 feet.

Left Lane: Rit Pustari Runs 4.514/182.82, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.340/201.04, Was #17
Right Lane: Dom Lagana Runs 3.883/318.69, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.914/309.27, Was #15

Pustari starts to smoke the tires early and clicks it off. Lagana with a great pass, his career fastest pass, but only goes to the number 13 spot. Dom Lagana's incremental times: 60ft-0.872 sec., 330ft-2.205, 660ft-3.120/278.12 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 4.871/147.91, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.844/317.87, Was #11
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.849/321.42, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.913/318.32, Was #15

Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 65 percent, barometer 29.40 inches, adjusted altitude 2,315 feet, track temperature 80 degrees.

Brown starts to haze the tires around half track and clicks it off. Vandergriff improves to get in the show...Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.181, 660ft-3.092/279.50 mph.


Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.803/321.04, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.836/282.19, Was #10
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.857/316.67, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.850/316.97, Was #13

Torrence launched hard and keep it hitting on all eight to move into the top half of the show. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.839 sec., 330ft-2.156, 660ft-3.050/283.43 mph. Millican matches his E.T. from earlier today and will stay in the number 13 spot. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.859 sec., 330ft-2.179, 660ft-3.089/277.49 mph.

Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 5.486/119.06, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.818/318.77, Was #9
Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.872/313.00, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.835/315.71, Was #10

Grubnic was up in smoke just past 330 feet and clicked it off. Dixon with another good pass, he won't improve and stays in the number 10 spot for now. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.183, 660ft-3.097/274.16 mph.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.776/327.03, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.812/323.58, Was #8
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.763/321.12, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.807/324.90, Was #7

alBalooshi with a great pass and big top end speed, his career best speed. He moves into the top half of the field. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.140, 660ft-3.034/285.05 mph. Massey launched hard and had the flames shooting high over the rear wing until right in the lights when he had problems with a quick fire. He goes to the number three spot. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.828 sec., 330ft-2.110, 660ft-3.012/281.66 mph.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.775/325.61, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.793/323.81, Was #7
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.767/327.27, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.789/327.59, Was #5

This was another great side-by-side drag race...Kalitta with his career quickest pass he moves up the ladder one spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.136, 660ft-3.025/285.05 mph. Bernstein with another great pass to go to the number seven spot. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.142, 660ft-3.029/285.83 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.770/323.12, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.792/325.14, Was #7
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.772/324.51, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.762/328.38, Was #2

Langdon launched hard and makes another great pass, but will not improve on his time from earlier today and he will stay in the number two spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.127, 660ft-3.024/283.25 mph. Schumacher with the fourth quickest pass of the round and moves up to the number five spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.124, 660ft-3.023/283.49 mph.
