WOODBURN, Ore. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Northwest Division, 35th Annual Les Schwab Challenge at Woodburn Dragstrip listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run: Right Lane: Gregg Lawrence Runs 14.493/77.80, Now #1 Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 46 percent, barometer 29.77 inches, adjusted altitude 1,625 feet, track temperature 109 degrees. 11:56 pm. We had a few of
the alcohol cars make test runs yesterday, but today is what counts. Lawrence goes up in smoke at the
hit of the throttle. Left Lane: Ray Martin Runs 5.613/257.06, Now #1 Right Lane: Megan McKernan Runs 5.815/227.56, Now #2 Blown vs Injected, Cali. vs Alaska (Don't get to say that very often). Martin shakes thru low gear, and then hazes the tires a little at 300ft, but then picks up the rest of the way down. McKernan bumps in a little too much and puts out the top bulb and that hurts her ET. Ray Martin's
incremental times: 60ft-0.945 sec., 330ft-2.518, 660ft-3.725/207.32 mph, 1,000ft-4.744. Left Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.359/267.93, Now #2 Right Lane: Chris Demke Runs 5.322/269.86, Now #1 Both of these racers finished in the top 5 in the world last season. Demke gets treed but it is only qualifying. Severance makes a great run to cross the finish line first and then Demke makes an even better run to go all the way to the #1 spot. Joey Severance's incremental times: 60ft-0.927
sec., 330ft-2.388, 660ft-3.536/214.08 mph, 1,000ft-4.521.
