MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- The first race of the season saw 22 cars show for the event. Of the 22 there were two that broke and one of our racers, John Foxbower left because his wife was in an accident. John's wife is fine I am told but her car was not as fortunate. We're glad she is OK.

The track was experiencing issues with timing equipment and it got late so we went into eliminations with one time trial. The dial in money sponsored by Mid-Ohio Paving was won by Dan Steed driving his '66 Chevy II ran 6.771 on his 6.77 dial for the cash.

First round started with 19 cars and the best first round winning package, sponsored by Parsons & Myers Racing Engines, was won by Jeff Ross with a .031 package driving his '72 Cuda 340 powered by a Parsons & Myers engine.

The semi-final round found Bob Lowry in his SS/Production redlight to sixteen year old Ryan Rudrick driving his H/PS (pure stock) 70 Duster 318. Dan Steed got the bye into the final.

Final round opponents Rudrick and Steed paired up and the little Duster left first with a.043 light to Steed's .051 The Duster ran 8.889 on his 8.84 to lose to the SS/KA Nova with a 6.7123 on his 6.71 dial. Steed had his car dialed and made up the deficit disadvantage reaction time for the win.

Thanks to everyone that came and stuck it out with the various problems to get this race in. Thanks to Mike and the track personnel for all their hard work as well.
