LAS VEGAS - With Halloween upcoming this Friday, there's nothing more that J.R. Todd would like to instate than a little fright into the Top Fuel field for this weekend's running of the eighth annual ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals on The Strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Of course, he wants the treats for the race and not any of the tricks. Driving his Lucas Oil Fuel Treatment dragster, this will be Todd's third appearance at the 'City of Lights' 300-mph boulevard and in 2006 he reached at the time, his third final round appearance and was defeated by nemesis, Tony Schumacher in the money round. "You know the track is always good there," said an energetic Todd. "No matter how the weather is there, the track is usually in good shape and the fall race is quicker of the two because the weather conditions being a lot cooler. It's normally a pretty exciting race with a few celebrities out and about. It's Las Vegas with lots of lights and action, but we're racing on a Bruton Smith track making it one of the better tracks we go to with a great staff on hand that always makes it a welcoming feeling for the NHRA to come there." The season is quickly ending with only two more races remaining on the drag racing calendar and Todd, with his win in Dallas, wants to add more wins before the season's curtain closes. "Since the win in Dallas, the car has really turned around," said Todd. "I think that we could have gone to at least the finals in last couple of races. It's good knowing the car is coming around and running like it should be, so that always helps my confidence. I don't think there's any reason why we shouldn't be in contention to run with the best of them the last few races of the year. "It's the Halloween weekend and there's nothing more I would love to do than put a scare in Sunday's competition, especially that black and gold car, it's been pretty haunting for the rest of the Top Fuel field." Todd will be signing autographs and greeting race fans at the NHRA FanFest on Thursday, Oct. 30 at the Fremont Street Experience from 6 to 8 p.m. The start of the eighth annual ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals begins on The Strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Halloween Friday, October 31 with two nitro qualifying sessions starting at 1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. (PDT). On Saturday, the Top Fuel dragsters will have two additional qualifying sessions at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The race starts promptly at 11 a.m. on Sunday, November 2. www.LucasOil.com Happy Halloween !
