EARLVILLE, Iowa -- November 15th was the date for this year’s awards banquet. Getting the banquet done before the snow flies is usually a problem, but this year Mother Nature allowed everyone that wanted to attend.

John Roos NHRA Div 5 Safety Crew member said some nice words about the LODRS event and some thoughts about TSRs safety record and the reasons for that record.

Reid Kuhlman gave a nice speech about the year and years to come. TSR crew gave out door prizes and after a catered meal it was Time for the awards.

Manly Iowa’s Clarence Mayo was the Super Pro Champion in 2003 and a Gold Card and Champions jacket. Mayo was quick in thanking his sponsors Terry and Kathy Young, Tim Young Trucking and the Thirsty Dog Saloon all of Manly. Adding that his success wouldn't have been possible without Fast Company Performance of Mason City Ia. He would also like to thank his immediate team, dial predictor and crew chief Denise Mayo (wife) and his brother Felix for all his help keeping the 2003 Worthy RED race ready.

Tom Knight of Evansdale Iowa was the Pro Champion for 2003 and did it in strong form. Challenged to the end, Knight made it hard as he went late round at the last 2 races clinching the championship. Tom was quick to thank the TSR competitors that he claims to have made him a better racer.

Sportsman Champion Pat Weber is no stranger to the podium, as this is his 5th Sportsman Championship. Along with his strong performance each weekend it also allowed Pat the top points earner FRED ENGELHART PERFOMANCE 500$ Bonus. Pat wished to thank his wife and kids for their support and his father and crew chief Beezy Weber. Mr. Weber handles the between round chores on both the Weber Racing Mopars. Pats brother Mike was a contender until the end in Pro. So dad deserves a lot of thanks. Mike and Pat awarded him with a plaque.

Tyler was quick to thank his sponsors and family for their support. Tyler announced that he would be a High School competitor next season and make room for his sister who has been ready for competition herself all season.

Tri-State Raceway is proud to be affiliated with Dennis Schewe Construction and their help with our highlighted series. The DENNIS SCHEWE CONSTRUCTION QUICK 16 is a six (6) race series that has 1000$ guaranteed to win and a series championship of 1000$ to the winner and 500$ to the r/u. TSR would like to thank its associate sponsors Classic Reaction, Cameron Race Cars and VP Race Fuels. Without their support this program would not be as attractive to the racers.

This years DENNIS SCHEWE CONSTRUCTION QUICK 16 Champion was Clarence Mayo. His 03 Worthy RED and SBC won 2 of the 6 races. Clarence was also the first racer to pull off the double winning DSC Quick16 and S/P on the same day. Along with that achievement, Mayos won 6 S/P races and a S/C event. That is a great season for everyone to take aim on in 2004. Taking close aim will be series r/u Jami Stoen. His 01 Cameron RED earned the WRIGHT-WAY TRAILERS low qualifier bonus twice.

Fred Engelhart of Engelhart Performance brought a contingency program that enhanced an eliminator win with a 25$ bonus for the win utilizing the Engelhart Performance sticker. This bonus was in all money classes at all points races and had surprising support.

Tri-State Raceway staff would like to thank its sponsors, racers and fans for making 2003 such a fun and safe operation, and promise more of the same in 2004.
