Top Fuel Round 2 Eliminations
By Larry Sullivan

EDMONTON, Alb. - Results of round 2 eliminations in Top Fuel at the 2005 Hooters IHRA Drag Racing Series, Third Annual Western RV Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by TORCO Race Fuels:

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
345 Bruce Litton 3 Doug Foley
E2 0.092 4.809 306.74 ****WINNER**** 0.089 4.787 296.96
 Prior rounds:
E1 (J OSTRANDER ) 0.108 4.823 292.84 (E VERENKA ) 0.188 4.768 274.83

3:37 p.m. Litton had the early lead, but Foley took command before half track and held on for the win, but he appeared to drop a cylinder on the top end and had a bit of an engine fire in the shutdown area. Doug Foley's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.046), 330 ft(-0.002), 660ft(0.026), 1,000ft(0.288). MOV: 0.0256 seconds (approximately 12 feet).

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
9 Rick Cooper 1 Clay Millican
E2 0.059 5.151 216.65 ****WINNER**** 0.063 4.695 305.63
 Prior rounds:
E1 (T PATON ) 0.068 5.127 263.10 (L ALLISON ) 0.082 4.540 325.69
 Qualified: #7 5.237 230.96 #6 5.086 203.40
Millican was really hauling once again, but pedaled about 300 feet out to get through tire shake and then appeared to lose a head gasket in the lights. Even so, he will have lane choice against Foley in the final round. Cooper did the smart thing, just running his race.
