Pro Modified Round 1 Eliminations

EDMONTON, Alb. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Torco Race Fuels Pro Modified at the 2005 Hooters IHRA Drag Racing Series, Third Annual Western RV Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by TORCO Race Fuels:

11:30 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 60 degrees, relative humidity 73 percent, barometer 27.69 inches, adjusted altitude 2,964 feet, track temperature 66 degrees.

Mills launched into tire shake and headed for the wall, so he had to lift. DiStefano went right down the groove on a very nice run.

Auxier's car spun the tires hard, carding a 1.145 60-foot time. By the time he got it hooked up, Stott was long gone.

Both launched into severe shake, both pedaled. Radford was able to find enough traction to get to the other end. Martin's car did not respond and may have been broken.

Both cars got a bit loose, but Billes' Stratus got very out of shape. He saved it, but it headed for the centerline and Billes put the chutes out, perhaps mindful of Shelly Anderson's mishap in St. Louis. Hogenson won, but lost lane choice to Stott.

Smith was away first, but Castellana reeled him in before the 60-foot timer and then pulled away for the win.

Both cars did a nice job of getting down the tricky track, but Spiering was able to pull away from Jenkins for the upset win. He faces Castellana next round, Castellana has lane choice.
