11:15 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 83 percent, barometer 29.37 inches, adjusted altitude 2,409 feet, track temperature 101 degrees.

This was close all the way, but DiStefano's car went right of the groove on the top end and that hurt his elapsed time. Both ran their best elapsed times of the weekend. baker's car had the wheels up and was headed for the centerline. When they came down, the car darted to the right and he had to shut it down to save it. Harper's run looked good to about half track, then he slowed, the reason not clear from here. He faces Spiering next round and Spiering will choose the lanes.
