GRAND BEND, Ont. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Torco Race Fuels Pro Stock at the 2005 Hooters IHRA Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual Mopar Canadian Nationals presented by Castrol listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Daniel Seamon Runs 7.660/129.01, Now #19; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Brian Gahm Runs 15.545/53.52, Now #21; Best prior run: 15.824/78.71, Was #20

2:44 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 88 degrees, relative humidity 62 percent, barometer 29.36 inches, adjusted altitude 2,984 feet, track temperature 132 degrees. Richard Penland is on the bump spot at 6.821.

This is the only qualifying round run under the conditions expected for tomorrow's eliminations and if the first pair is any indication, it will be ugly out there Sunday! Gahm swerved hard on the launch and had to lift. Seamon went left off the line, then swerved back and forth across the groove to half track, spinning the tires, before he lifted.

Left Lane: Ed Machacek Runs 6.664/208.33, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.874/208.62, Was #17
Right Lane: Dwayne Rice Runs 13.246/72.17, Now #20; Best prior run: 8.729/110.06, Was #20

Nice pass by Machacek to bump Penland. Ron Miller is on the bump spot at 6.746. Rice spun the tires and fishtailed.

Left Lane: Richard Penland Runs 7.009/208.81, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.821/207.37, Was #17
Right Lane: Sylvester Barnes Runs 6.894/203.46, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.964/202.24, Was #18

Penland was unable to get back min, both drivers slow off the starting line with tire spin.

Left Lane: Larry O'Brien Runs 6.654/209.62, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.646/209.82, Was #12
Right Lane: Ron Miller Runs 6.714/207.02, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.746/206.01, Was #16

Both cars were a bit loose right off the line, but both settled down nicely the rest of the way. Miller improved, stayed on the bubble.

Left Lane: Doug Kirk Runs 6.575/211.73, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.636/210.73, Was #11
Right Lane: Elijah Morton Runs 6.685/207.88, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.713/206.83, Was #15

Nice runs, Kirk overcoming some early tire spin on a strong showing, moving into the top half of the field.

Left Lane: John Nobile Runs 6.616/211.89, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.634/211.83, Was #11
Right Lane: John Konigshofer Runs 6.972/163.81, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.689/207.66, Was #15

Konigshofer was quicker early in the run, but Nobile drove around him on a nice run while Konigshofer slowed.

Left Lane: Frank Gugliotta Runs 6.914/211.30, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.548/212.03, Was #4
Right Lane: Chuck DeMory Runs 6.671/207.78, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.623/209.26, Was #11

Gugliotta spuin the tires hard on the launch, clocking a 1.150 60-foot time, then hooked it up for a big speed.

Left Lane: John Montecalvo Runs 9.266/110.24, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.546/212.63, Was #3
Right Lane: Pete Berner Runs 6.613/211.03, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.620/210.97, Was #10

Montecalvo's car made a big move to the left and he lifted. Nice pass by Berner, right down the groove.

Right Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 6.545/214.04, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.562/212.90, Was #5

Outstanding run by Spiess with a track record speed, in the heat of the afternoon.

Left Lane: Robert Patrick Runs 6.551/212.36, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.531/213.37, Was #2
Right Lane: Jerry Haas Runs 6.582/212.83, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.605/211.69, Was #8

Patrick's Cobra made a big move to the left on the launch and he drove through it without lifting! Meanwhile, Haas moved one spot away from the middle of the ladder.

Left Lane: Tony Gillig Runs 6.541/212.23, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.530/212.86, Was #1
Right Lane: Rick Jones Runs 6.589/213.10, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.591/212.59, Was #8

Gillig's car did a dance on the launch and he ignored it, running low ET of the round despite a lot of initial tire spin. Meanwhile, Jones almost duplicated his run from last night and ran a better speed on a nice pass.
