GRAND BEND, Ont. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Mopar Parts Pro Modified at the Hooters IHRA Drag Racing Series, 3rd annual Mopar Performance Parts Canadian Nationals presented by Castrol listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Mark Nielsen Runs 8.026/108.32, Now #2
Right Lane: Tony Pontieri Runs 6.567/215.56, Now #1
Nielsen shook the tires right off the starting line and got out of the groove, before he lifted. Pontieri was straight down the lane.
Left Lane: Raymond Commiso No Time, Now #4
Right Lane: Roy Wasko Runs 6.450/212.61, Now #1
Commiso left before the tree was activated. Wasko with a good looking pass here.
Left Lane: Brian Daniels Runs 6.726/215.10, Now #4
Right Lane: Kasey Janzen Runs 6.524/215.77, Now #2
Daniels with a lot of tire chatter and had the car completely sideways.
Left Lane: Harold Martin Runs 6.314/221.51, Now #1
Right Lane: Mike Janis Runs 14.309/58.87, Now #7
Janis with a lot of tire shake and clicked it off. Martin was spinning the tires past half track and still had a good looking pass.
Left Lane: Ed Hoover Runs 6.468/218.97, Now #3
Right Lane: Mike Lockwood Runs 10.950/94.34, Now #8
Lockwood with problems right off the starting line.
Left Lane: Paul Athey Runs 6.605/209.10, Now #7
Right Lane: Al Billes Runs 6.421/215.51, Now #2
Billes with a good looking pass straight down Broadway.
Left Lane: Larry Sinke No Time, Now #13
Right Lane: Mitch Stott Runs 6.301/224.88, Now #1
Sinke was shutoff in the water. Mitch with a little move toward the centerline, but reeled it in and blasted on through for the number one spot.
Left Lane: Troy Critchley Runs 6.425/219.78, Now #4
Right Lane: Quain Stott Runs 16.994/51.97, Now #14
Stott with a lot of tire shake right off the starting line and he clicked it off. Critchley was real loose off the starting line, but stayed with it for the number four spot.
Left Lane: Thomas Patterson Runs 6.518/217.75, Now #7
Right Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 13.263/64.17, Now #14
Castellana launched into violent tire shake and clicked it off. Patterson launched hard and then drove through a bunch of tire shake around 200 feet.
Left Lane: Steve Vick Runs 12.811/72.58, Now #15
Right Lane: Fred Hahn Runs 6.488/218.18, Now #7
Vick just blistered the tires on the launch. Hahn pedaled it around 330 feet and then drove it on through the quarter mile.
Left Lane: Shannon Jenkins Runs 10.104/84.57, Now #15
Right Lane: Carl Spiering Runs 6.519/222.05, Now #9
Jenkins with a nitrous explosion around 200 feet and Spiering with a good looking pass.
Left Lane: Alan Pittman Runs 12.554/112.52, Now #18
Right Lane: Gary Irving Runs 8.988/99.86, Now #15
Pittman with a lot of tire chatter right off the starting line and he clicked it off. Irving had problems around 330 feet and clicked it off.
