Left Lane: Steve Federlin Runs 5.447/260.66, Now #1
Right Lane: Mark Hentges Runs 5.548/259.21, Now #2
Hentges the winner from last weekend's final divisional race with a good open pass. Federlin was out ahead of him all the way through the quarter mile.
Left Lane: Dave Hirata Runs 5.401/261.12, Now #1
Right Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.538/262.49, Now #3
Under cloudy skies with the temperature around 71 degrees, humidity is 28% and the barometer is 30.06 inches and falling.
Hirata launched hard and keep it hitting on all eight all the way through the
quarter mile. Shields with top mph of the meet so far.
Left Lane: Don Hudson Runs 5.454/257.92, Now #3
Right Lane: James Copeland II Runs 5.508/260.16, Now #4
Another pair of good looking passes here both cars straight down Broadway.
Left Lane: Brandon Johnson Runs 5.794/254.86, Now #8
Right Lane: Arthur Gallant Runs 5.444/235.23, Now #2
Johnson overpowered the tracks as soon as he hit the throttle and got out of the groove, but never lifted and drove it on through the quarter mile. Gallant's top end mph was way off pace.
Left Lane: John Haley Runs 5.440/256.89, Now #2
Right Lane: Larry Miersch Runs 5.608/249.53, Now #9
It looks like this could be a really tough show to qualify for as we already have five out of 10 drivers in the 5.40's.
Left Lane: Bill Reichert Runs 5.677/256.31, Now #11
Right Lane: Darryl Hitchman Runs 5.496/252.95, Now #6
Reichert making his first trip ever to Pomona is out here testing. For the first time he running an engine designed for injected nitro set up. Before this engine he had adapted his old alcohol engines. Hitchman with a nice pass.
Left Lane: Gary Anderson Runs 5.723/259.76, Now #13
Right Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.494/260.56, Now #6
Anderson drove through some tire shake and Severance with a nice looking pass.
Left Lane: David Wells Runs 5.616/253.52, Now #13
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 5.315/261.93, Now #1
Lucas launched hard and keep the candles lit and the Goodyears stuck all the way through the quarter mile to go to number one spot.
Lucas: 60ft-0.905 sec., 330ft-2.368, 660ft-3.499/219.90mph, 1,000ft-4.470
Left Lane: Darren Nicholson Runs 5.577/255.39, Now #13
Right Lane: Rick Santos Runs 5.445/263.77, Now #5
Santos got a little loose around half track, but stayed with it to get into the top half of the show for now. Reichert is now on the bump with a 5.677 seconds.
Left Lane: Mark Niver Runs 5.451/259.96, Now #8
Right Lane: Tony Bartone Runs 5.384/270.75, Now #2
Bartone with one of his best passes in this car for the number two spots and big mph. Niver gets into the top half of the show.
Left Lane: Cliff Bozzelli Runs 5.499/255.15, Now #12
Right Lane: Ben Marshall Runs 9.544/90.67, Now #22
Marshall with a lot of tire shake and clicked it off. Bozzelli straight down Broadway.
Left Lane: Chris Demke Runs 5.588/217.63, Now #18
Right Lane: Alan Bradshaw Runs 5.436/262.44, Now #4
These two were glued together until about 900 feet and then the Demke's engine went away. This was a great round of qualifying and Hentges is on the bump with a 5.548.
