LAS VEGAS 2 - Pro Stock Bike Qualifying Notes, Session #3

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Bike at the Inaugural AC Delco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:


Right Lane: Chris Reuter Runs 7.536/171.93, Now #20; No Prior Run

12:09 PM Bikes come out from under the bridge and we are underway with the first Pro session of the day. Reuter gets an opening single and he fails to improve. Conditions arn't as bad as I thought. About 80 degrees and partly overcast. The barometer is reading 30.10.

Left Lane: Mike Kovacevich Runs 7.631/176.81, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.587/172.83, Was #23
Right Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.336/176.67, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.396/180.79, Was #6

GT steps way up and moves into the #2 spot in the field.

Right Lane: Brian DeLong Runs 7.540/176.67, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.531/178.19, Was #19

DeLong slows from his best of the weekend.

Left Lane: Blaine Hale Runs 7.428/178.38, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.486/177.30, Was #14
Right Lane: Clarence Markham Runs 9.017/101.42, Now #25; Best prior run: 7.756/177.42, Was #25

Hale is in but can't be comfortable. Markham really needs a good one. Markham has problems and slows. Hale picks up several positions.

Left Lane: Sam Hurwitz Runs 7.436/178.90, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.562/175.39, Was #21
Right Lane: Jay Matthews Runs 7.506/177.04, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.577/175.27, Was #22

Hurwitz makes the field but Matthews will need the final session. Treble is on the bump.

Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.391/179.85, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.506/181.23, Was #16
Right Lane: Greg Underdahl No Time, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.522/179.40, Was #18

Underdahl loses a run at the wrong time. He appeared to back out of the beam just before the tree came down. Treble is well off the bump.

Left Lane: Ron Ayers Runs 7.398/179.28, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.433/177.88, Was #13
Right Lane: Fred Camarena Runs 7.432/175.96, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.527/175.16, Was #20

Both riders improve. Doege now sits on the bump spot.

Left Lane: Scott Lewis Runs 7.587/177.86, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.522/175.50, Was #20
Right Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.492/175.50, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.475/177.42, Was #17

No help. One session to go.

Left Lane: Todd Doege Runs 7.478/180.98, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.474/180.33, Was #16
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.406/177.93, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.431/178.66, Was #12

Johnson improves but Doege stays on the bubble.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.355/178.83, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.432/179.18, Was #13
Right Lane: Thomas Miceli Runs 7.383/174.91, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.423/177.88, Was #11

Side by side thirties and both riders improve.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.311/186.38, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.401/181.08, Was #11
Right Lane: Reggie Showers Runs 7.377/181.47, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.377/181.54, Was #5

Gann moves all the way to #2. Showers fails to improve.

Left Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.387/180.16, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.388/180.24, Was #8
Right Lane: Matt Hines Runs 7.310/182.77, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.340/187.29, Was #4

No help for Scali but Hines moves up.

Left Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.367/180.91, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.390/181.32, Was #9
Right Lane: Angelle Savoie Runs 7.293/181.57, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.289/182.35, Was #1

Angelle is still the only bike to run in the twenties this weekend. She's now done it twice. Berry was right there but started falling back by 330. We end the session with Savoie on the pole and Doege on the bump. One more session remains in qualifying.
