TOPEKA, Kan. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock at the 12th annual Advance Auto Parts Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Ed Heck Runs 7.150/193.65, Now #30; Best prior run: 7.150/192.06, Was #30
We start Pro Stock qualifying under cloudy skies with the temperature in the low seventies, humidity is 44% and the barometer is 29.94 inches.
Left Lane: John Fairleigh Runs 7.045/194.97, Now #26; Best prior run: 10.040/91.13, Was #33
Right Lane: Hurley Blakeney Runs 7.124/193.88, Now #29; Best prior run: 7.130/194.55, Was #28
The bump is Coffman's 6.999. Both cars made moves in the right direction, but not enough to help them.
Left Lane: Carl Beal Runs 8.228/118.30, Now #33; Best prior run: 9.754/94.02, Was #33
Right Lane: Larry Peternel No Time, Now #32; Best prior run: 7.248/188.41, Was #32
That was weird all of a sudden Rick Stewart was waving his hands and stopping these two. Then Beal took the light and clicked it off around half-track. Once Beal cleared the top end Peternel took the green light and just drove it on through, but did not get a time or speed.
Left Lane: Gary Wiggins Runs 7.146/192.11, Now #30; Best prior run: 7.132/193.02, Was #30
Right Lane: Gordie Rivera Runs 11.655/74.43, Now #28; Best prior run: 7.095/193.96, Was #28
We had about a two minute delay because of a few sprinkles. It was not even enough to bring out track drying equipment. Rivera made an immediate move toward the centerline and had to click it off.
Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.975/196.16, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.031/195.28, Was #24
Right Lane: John Nobile Runs 7.043/194.80, Now #26; Best prior run: 7.048/194.66, Was #27
V. Gaines is the first on to make a big move today and goes from the outside of the show to the number 10 spot.

A couple of Toms here and both need to find something or they maybe watching tomorrow. Well this is not good for either of these guys. Martino rattled the tires right off the starting line and got out of the groove.

Right Lane: Danny Coffman Runs 7.026/195.08, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.999/195.05, Was #17
No help for either of these guys, I am guessing the higher humidity is hurting the performance.

Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 6.987/196.56, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.984/196.02, Was #14

Right Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 7.026/194.66, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.973/195.53, Was #10
Pawuk picked up 0.007 seconds and that was enough to move him up two spots.
Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.950/197.33, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.966/198.00, Was #7
Right Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 7.017/196.87, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.967/196.73, Was #8
Kurt with the big jump, and no help for Allen.

Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.956/197.86, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.926/197.94, Was #2
A real close drag race here. Warren quicker than Krisher, Krisher was faster Johnson.
